Motel with Restaurant near Port Liberty

Hello- I need a motel in the Port Liberty NJ area that has a full service restaurant for dinner or with a restaurant not more than a block away for a cruise leaving on 10/7/2018. I am disabled and can't walk too far.

thanks so much:)

Answered your other motel post earlier. I think you're really looking for an airport hotel. Motels in this urban area have poor reputations.

Let's start with your hotel budget. I'm thinking you can take a cab from the terminal to a nearby hotel. Then you need to get to Cape Liberty, and then return directly to an airport terminal at the end of the cruise. If a hotel had a shuttle to the port, would that be an option for you?

138east can you direct me to your other answer on her post? I need the same info - where to stay near EWR and which hotels have shuttle to Cape Liberty. Thanks!

What is your exact date? How many people? Bed sizerequirements? Budget? Do you need a Park, sleep, cruise or just a sleep/cruise?

There aren't many hotels with shuttles. The ones we recommend are Embassy Suites, Country Inns, and the packages on trinityreservations.com for the Ramada and Crowne Plaza.

There are 3 couples all needing separate rooms - we are coming from Dallas the day before we sail from Cape Liberty. We are thinking either the Hilton or Marriott at the airport. Not sure the best way to get to the cruise ship terminal the next day - suggestions for 6 people?

What is your exact date?

If you're interested in the Marriott or Hilton (two of the pricier hotels at EWR), I would actually recommend Embassy Suites (one of the newest hotels at EWR) which offers a $20/pp shuttle to Cape Liberty. This would be $120 each way for your group of 6, but it would keep you together. You can price out Dial7 or Carmellimo for 6, but I think you'll find it more expensive than $120 because of the larger sized vehicle that would be required for 6 people and all your luggage.

Embassy Suites is located by the Jersey Gardens Mall with access to restaurants like Ruby Tuesdays, Applebees, Johnny Rockets, IHOP, and the mall food court. There are no offsite eating options at the Marriott or Hilton. ES also offers some sort of cocktail hour plus a free breakfast in the hotel.

138east, if we had to fly in to JFK or LaG, what is the best way to get to the Embassy at Newark?

Thanks!

If you're flying into JFK or LGA, I would take a car service such as Dial 7 or Carmel Limo to get to hotels in the Newark/Elizabeth area. Note that using a car service will not be inexpensive...JFK and LGA are in the borough of Queens in NY City, while Newark in in NJ, so it's a substantial drive that crosses state lines and involves tolls in addition to the car service fare. Figure on a one way trip for two people in a sedan to cost over $100 inclusive of tolls and tip.To make up for the additional expense (you can take the hotel's free shuttle to and from EWR), airfare to JFK or LGA would have to be significantly less than airfare to EWR.

You could take ETS shuttle, a Port Authority -approved airport shared shuttle service (on a van or mini bus) between LGA or JFK and EWR for about $30-$35 per person one way. Then you can get your hotel's free shuttle to take you from EWR to the hotel.

Please price out your total trip including car service or shuttle before you book LGA or JFK. The flights to LGA or JFK would have to be significantly cheaper to be worth the time and hassle of getting yourselves through NYC to EWR.

You still didn't mention the exact date you would be doing this. Day of the week and time of day are huge considerations when dealing with the NY metro area traffic to get to NJ. There are limited crossing points that can be huge traffic bottlenecks on a daily basis. Please don't book a trip where your trip from the airport to your hotel could take almost as long as your flight from Dallas.

Sorry, Carol. We are flying in on 9/6/18 for a cruise that leaves on 9/7. You are very helpful - thanks!!

You would fly in on a Thursday. New York metro traffic would be in high gear by 4 pm. It's the week after Labor Day and everyone will be back to work and on the roads.

What is the price difference between flying into LGA, EWR, and JFK? Are you flying home from EWR? What kind of flight times are you considering?

Right now, the difference in price is not worth flying in toJFK or LGA. We fly home fro Quebec

Thank goodness you asked! I hate telling folks who have already booked a flight to JFK or LGA that all their "savings" could be eaten up by ground transportation and they are going to spend a lot of extra travel time for that privilege.

Welcome! Celebrity Summit - 10 nights - Bermuda and New England?

What is the name of your Manhattan hotel?

You should fly into Newark(EWR). You take the free Airtrain from the terminal to the P4 station to connect with the hotel shuttle to Embassy Suites. The shuttle from Embassy Suites to Cape Liberty is $20 per person. https://www.panynj.gov/airports/pdf/ewr-airtrain-brochure-english.pdf

Can you take public transportation? The train from Penn Station New York to Newark Liberty International station is $13/pp. http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/rail/Rail_System_Map.pdf

The train from Penn Station New York to Jamaica and the JFK Airtrain is about $15 - http://web.mta.info/lirr/Timetable/lirrmap.htm

Please post again. We can help you with lots of information. You need advice about getting from Cape Liberty to your hotel in Manhattan. Most folks use a car service, but public transit is an option via the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and PATH. This costs $2.25 and $2.75 plus about $6.00 per person for a shuttle from the port to the light rail. Car Service for 5 people will be well over $100.

Car Service from Cape Liberty to Club Quarters - Dial7 or Carmel limo. Look for online coupons. You need to know the number of people and the number of pieces of luggage to get a quote.

They quote a base rate. You will also have to pay the tolls, which would be $15-18. A tip of 18-20% is expected on the base rate.

https://www.dial7.com/rates.html

https://www.carmellimo.com/

You should pre book this. You do NOT want to try to take a taxi between New Jersey (Cape Liberty) and New York.

The folks from New York can explain the fixed taxi rate between Manhattan and JFK if you decide to fly home from JFK and don't want to take the airport bus. You can also book a car service.

If you fly home from EWR and don't want to take the airport bus, you need to book a car service (don't plan on taking a New York City taxi) because this is a trip between New York and New Jersey, the rules are more complicated, and the fare is not a flat fee.
