So RR how did you find the cruise and did you get a hairdryer in your cabin? That's what we all want to know.;)

Jan

Yes, the great hairdryer question... I had one in 2011, Ecko had one this year, Mallorcachap didn't. I am awake at night worrying about it. (I've got no hair from worrying about these things)

I actually meant 22 degrees....but having looked around town there are probably 22 thousand dogs who leave their mess all over town!!! Only redeeming feature is the beach... and food market....so our advice would be to go on a trip here!

Ship seems much busier this week and food being served to us rather than help yourself.....queues everywhere....but good weather continues!!

Twas good to see you all on board..missing your smiley faces!! Hope you all had good journeys home...we know Cappers didnt though! X

No mention of the dreaded noro.. ...might be preventative measures rather than actually being on board....got our cabin number wrong it's 6062 with no hairdryer!! We did try to get in the wrong cabin last night....wondered why the key wouldn't work!! We'd only had one glass of wine as well!!

We didn't see any signs of Noro and they were serving the buffet as well. It took me 3 days to find the porridge in the Beacomber, lol.:):)

I had a hairdryer in cabin 8052 but it was extremely difficult to plug in as the wire was fixed to the dressing table in a most inconvenient way! Shame about the weather after last week. I've just about lost that post cruise motion of the ocean feeling:rolleyes:

Both 8526 and 8026 both had hair dryers

The great hairdryer debate goes on! This may seem trivial but it's quite important as we can hardly sit on the balcony to dry our hair and my travel one is useless on the IE. Why don't they just put the same hairdryer in every cabin? And! can you still get one at reception if you need one? It helps to know in advance.:):)

There would still be a helluva Q for that hair dryer if it was the same one :p

My travel dryer is Babyliss make Jan and it works fine in the 220 v European socket....it can be adjusted for 110 v American type socket but haven't used it in there....I assume reception still have them but haven't actually got one from there.:)

Mrs Stevio is very fussy about the power of her hairdryer, but she gets on ok with one of those little grey travel dryers that they sell in all the airports. Few years old now but works a treat... And the dryer. :D (Have to watch the voltage though, old fashioned manual set type.)

Back home now....Civi and Livorno were both grey days in port but very wet in the cities....Civi is having work done near 'normal' port entrance so shuttle dropped us quite a way from town centre about 30 min walk from train station...we just did market here and walk down to prom...Livorno we did a canal boat trip..10euros....tickets from tourist info at shuttle drop off point...

We loved Nice...free port shuttle here but no-one told us..we found by chance...minibus goes from port gate to other side of harbour....this was our favourite port...lots to see but not enough time....huge flower fruit veg market...lovely old town to wander...nice modern town and wonderful promenade....also lift up to castle ruins......back to sunshine in Nice, land barcelona and also palma today....so only 2 grey days out of 14!!!

Doh! We didn't know there was a shuttle bus in Nice. Didn't see any sign of one so we walked round the harbour and up the prom as far as the casino and then cut back away from the front near the cathedral and wandered around all the old streets with their interesting shops. The map was quite helpful here and we arrived back near the harbour with no problem. Strange place Nice, everybody jogging or cycling along the beach front. We've never been anywhere else where people are so obsessive.:)

Jan the shuttle was not easy to spot ....just a mini bus with the words free port shuttle on the glass at the back!! We had read somewhere on the internet that there was one, so were half looking for it and it just arrived....yes the joggers, etc were a bit obsessive weren't they...the only disappointment there (apart from early departure) was that the beach was pebbles and not sand...some quite dishy males on display too in their speedos...if only I was forty years younger!!!!:D

We had also read that there was a lift up to the castle ruins but didn't find it where we thought it should be, so started to walk up the steps and got to the Tower which was about half way up and were too tired to carry on so went back down and carried on into town....only to find on our walk back to the marina that the lift was just a tiny bit inland from the steps ....so we could have done it but did not then have time.... but we did enjoy our taster and decided that there would be plenty to do in that area on a weeks holiday so we might go down that route.....Easy jet was flying in every 10 mins or so....we will do some research.:)

Aargh! I just typed a great long reply and lost it. Don't you just hate it when that happens? As I was saying, lol, my neighbours went to Nice every year as their son had a property there, sadly he has sold it now. They went by Easyjet. When we went last time we weren't really impressed with the town when we walked down from the station, we docked in Villefranche, but thought it was a lot more interesting wandering around the old streets behind the castle/chateau. We saw all the steps but decided against it as I only had my sandals on, apart from clothes of course, and the weather was getting cooler by the minute. My neighbour recommends visiting Cap Ferrat if we get the chance.:):)

I'm not normally up at this time but I'm at son's house child/dog sitting and woke up coughing and spluttering and am now wide awake!!! Seems like something caught on the ship probably air con cough.....woke with dry/sore throat on last morning so I almost got away with It!

easyjet fly to Nice from Bristol for around 140 pounds return but of course hotels are expensive...just thought it would be easy to fill a week with Monaco, Antibes, villefranche, and Cannes all fairly close.....

....
