Adult only cruises

Hi Considering booking on TUI Discovery for West Med cruise beginning 2nd September 2017. As it is technically still in possible school holidays has anyone any experience of number of children likely to be on board.

Unless this is advertised as an Adult Only cruise, there could be children aboard. As most of the schools are back by then, I would guess any children aboard will mostly be pre-school age.

Don't do it unless you are certain you are in term time and the kids are back at school. They were a nightmare for us, in school holidays. Absolutely awful cruise.

Why not book one of the P&O adult only cruises?

Nothing I can stand more than adults complaining of children being on a cruise ship :)

In addition apart from 1 cruise I have seen more adults in kids/teens only areas than the reverse

The problem is not the kids per se - it's those parents who abandon them as soon as they step onboard and abrogate responsibility for their children.

Well said weecountryman the parents are to blame especially those who smoke (I'm a smoker) cos they leave the kids to dive bomb in the pool run around everywhere whilst they go to the smoking areas and get p....d In the summer holidays Thomson need to have security men on board to sort this out

I can't comment on other cruise lines except Princess - they have "Youth Security" staff onboard to deter kids from messing around.

We've been on Thomsons cruises where parents have brought toddlers in buggies along to the later of the two entertainment shows - it's no place for bairns of that age at that time of night IMO.

That early in Sept some schools may not have gone back plus some independent schools have longer holidays. There is also the scenario of those starting or already at uni having a family cruise pre October. Kids will be kids whatever their age!

On the Dream there was a family pool area and paddling pool and an adult deck area where topless was allowed..........naturally some families liked the adult deck but their kids came too! It is very hard to say 'oi get back to the family deck'....

check out half terms and avoid those too!
