A New Record and a New Bridge

Here are a couple of short videos from the Canal's Spanish YouTube channel. The first is of the largest ship to transit the Canal using the new locks. This ship is a container vessel with 14,863TEUs and the name of the ship... Theodore Roosevelt! I'm sure Teddy would be pleased.

The next video is of the new Atlantic bridge which will span the Canal channel just north of the old and new locks. It is being built high enough so there won't be the clearance problems of the Pacific side Bridge of Americas.

YES!! YES!! Love and appreciate these wonderful videos and details about this new bridge and their new canal. Love getting these types of excellent visual samplings from expert traveler BB. Both bring back nice memories from our travels through the canal in March as detailed below in my life/blog.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

  • 3 months later...

Ah, it's what they call progress... first to be gone were the real mules on the Eire Canal, then the electric "mules" for the new locks on the Canal. Fortunately the electric mules are still gainfully employed at the original Locks:D!

Ps: They also have a tug on the stern to assist as well.
