Social Ocean App

Our first Medallion cruise is not until April 2018 (hopefully after the testing period) but I downloaded the Social Ocean app this morning and tried it out. The Tagalong critter was easy to make and there appear to be endless options to personalize them. One of the working options in the application is to play their "casino" type games offline and not for real money. Except they they often give you the option to spend real money to buy their version of chips. To play the games you have to download another app called PlayOcean Everywhere. Several of the games are not available as you have to be on a Medallion cruise for them to work as I suppose they are "live" gambling with real money that can win as well as (mostly) lose. The working games are Roulette, a Slot Machine, a Poker type game and a Bingo game. There is an option called Ocean TV that doesn't do anything at this point except go to a web page. You can also log into various social media apps through the Social Ocean app which, I suppose, could give Princess access to what you are posting if you use their pass through option. Maybe not. I tried to add my cruise reservation into it but that does not appear to be working yet.

 

I usually lock up my phone in the room safe, but this may get me to bring it out at least initially to see what it is all about. Also to take you tube videos of all the people tripping over and bumping into each other because their faces are glued to their phones and they are not paying attention to where they are going.

Added the app and tried to link my existing reservation but it wants a "Reservation Number" and doesn't accept my Booking Number. Also wanted to take my picture rather than allowing me to choose a picture. Says date of birth not chosen but won't let me edit that field. Doesn't seem ready for prime time...

Same with me - maybe still not live. I will try again tomorrow on the 13th.

When is the Row Boat getting the Medallion? I realize it will take 5 feet or so of cable but... ;p

I know you must have had a great time on your 28 day cruise. We miss you on CC. Now back to the Medallion The Rowboat Will be Installing the Medallion soon. We are removing one thing we don’t want our wives to know were we are on the Rowboat...:):):)

Hi all,

 

So I've been having the same issues with Ocean Ready/ Ocean medallion apps on my iphone. Here's what I've learned so far:

1. To link your reservation successfully in any of the apps no matter which you download and use first, you must set up your name exactly as you booked your cruise when creating your ocean compass account. So for example, if your legal name is Robert Smith and this is how you are documented for the cruise, do not set up your Ocean account as Bob Smith. Even with the correct reservation/booking number, the reservation with not sync if the names don't match. If you have already done this in error, you'd think you'd just be able to change your name in the account profile section and be good. But no. This did not work. Instead, you will literally have to create a new account login using a different email (luckily I have 2 emails).

2. Ocean ready was not an available app on the iphone as of 11/15/17. Trust me, I spent 3 hours looking in every way possible. Magically, as of 11/16/17, the app is now available. If you don't successfully find it by searching "Ocean Ready" try searching "Ocean Compass" instead. The app was the 4th choice down for me.

3. Despite finally successfully putting Ocean Ready on my iphone and correctly linking my cruise (which leaves in just 2 days), I am still not yet able to use this app. I either get booted out saying there was a data error or when I do get in, it is saying I can't yet upload necessary docs and images due to my guest information not being complete in the cruise personalizer. I have double checked this perhaps a dozen times online and it says "complete", but still not syncing correctly in the app...

4. I concur that this whole ocean medallion thing might not have been ready for prime time. At a minimum, the apps are not. I suppose I'm still happy to be a guinea pig though, as if they do figure it out, it should be very very cool.

 

Once I'm onboard, I'm hoping all of these glitches won't matter and I'll report back on the experience.

Thanks for posting the information. I was able to find it but it can't find my journey!

 

I just hung up with Ocean Concierge and they said it went live yesterday as did the website but it's already down today!

I checked my name on the app login (and the web site login for the same thing) and it matches my email and my name on my reservation. I used my Booking Number as the "reservation number" but it says it can't find me. I'm booked for a ***** cruise in March of 2018. The error says it can't find my reservation and to check my legal name. It matches. I don't think this is really ready for prime time.

 

Note: Is there some number other than the booking number I'm supposed to be using?

No. That's why I called. They said that they app and the corresponding website is currently down. They are busy working to get it back up again.

Thanks. That is the only number I was aware of but... I think it's pretty darn poorly worded. Why can't they just ask for your Booking Number like every other input place Princess has? Bad IT always peeves me.

Has anybody been able to link a future cruise yet? I'm still not having any success. I wonder if part of the problem is that one has to enter their birth date when linking and the dang profile on the OCEAN site will not let me fill in a field for that. It says "unspecified" but if I try to edit the profile that part isn't editable.

Looked briefly at PlayOcean on my phone but it requires that you choose a name and only offers their choice of names. One can't put in the name they might like but instead must choose from their listings. You can't see the entire list so you have to click for another name time after time after time after time... and there is no way to go back. All of the names are things such as "Sparkling Scorpionfish", "Wacky Flounder", "Delightful Anemone", "Elegant Clownfish", etc. Bleh...

I wonder if part of the problem is that one has to enter their birth date when linking and the dang profile on the OCEAN site will not let me fill in a field for that. I was finally able to add my upcoming cruise to the account I had created several weeks ago. I also scanned our Passports and added a photo of each of us. I started filling in the information on my PC, but there was no option that I saw to scan our Passports. I was able to scan and add our Passports via the smartphone andriod app.

Can you please provide some specifics? Like exact web address to use, and how you got it to accept your birth date? I went into my "Ocean Compass" and it only states that I am "born," which I thank Princess for telling me, but that is not helpful in looking up my reservation if they need a birth date! And yes, my name is correct.

 

So please tell us all how specifically you were able to add your future cruise!!! Thanks.

After I orginally created my account, it also showed my birthdate blank. When I tried to enter our future cruise, it kept saying there may be a problem with your name or birthday which you had to enter along with the booking number. I checked back every few days. A few days ago it finally accepted my future cruise when I entered the information on this website: https://ocean-compass-web.prod.ocean.com/compass .

 

It could be that Princess only allows people to enter their cruise information if they are getting a medallion for that cruise. It appears they had shipped my Medallions about the same time I was able to finally enter my future cruise information. I received them today for my Nov 26th cruise on the Regal Princess...

Does that mean you are in the select group that actually has access to all the features of the *****?

 

That I don't know. I just know I have a cabin with the ***** service and have received my Medallions. Near as I can tell, they are phasing the ***** in, with sections of the ship over several cruises. I have no idea if once a cabin is ***** tested, that it will stay that way from that point on or if they are going from section to section, testing only a section at a time.
