American Empress Cabin Recommendation?

I am going to book a cruise on the Empress very soon and I am interested in the Deluxe Veranda Stateroom. Any recommendations on a stateroom to book or not to book? Is there a difference which side of the ship as far as scenery, when going west on the Snake & Columbia rivers? I am looking for a quite room, where you can't hear people walking by the room.

Thanks so much!

Carol

We are booked July 24th from Portland to Clarkston. Verandah cabin on the starboard side forward was recommended. Will let you know if it was good advice in August!

Last October we were in Cabin 210...portside. That put us on the "south" side of the boat traveling westbound Clarkston to Vancouver. We enjoyed having the sun on the veranda. Not a lot of choice when I booked (nearly a year out). This cabin was nice, only noise was from the commode in the adjoining cabin! Don't know if it was better or worse than any other but was entirely satisfactory to us.
