3 Open Cruise Limitation--NCL

Hello all,

I'm lucky enough to be a CAS customer (Platinum) and just got another offer of a "free" (in truth "more economical") cruise. I called and was told I can't book this offer, or any other NCL cruise, because I'm lucky enough to have 3 open cruises with NCL. December 2017, March 2018, April 2018.

Hence, it was explained to be that the CAS offer won't be bookable until after the December cruise is over. By then, most probably, the pickings will be slimmer. For some other reasons, I wanted to make the hotel and air reservations now rather than later.

Has anyone had that experience? More important (to me) are theresome suggestions to be able to book the cruise now rather than later. I could cancel the April 18 cruise but it is Panama Canal and airfare has been paid (my bad!). I'm really asking for a way to have more than 3 open cruises with NCL.

Thanks for any advice.

MD

OK, no expert here. But if you can't book another cruise with CAS, have you tried booking with an online agency to block out the cabin you want until December. Then cancel and rebook the same cabin under CAS. (Assuming you want a cruise outside the cancelation window.) If you can't book in your name, you could work with a friend to block out the cabin you want until you can book.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. Assuming that the cruise you want to book is after your December cruise, this might work for you (if they are still allowing it). You can book the cruise and cabin you want, but it would be without the casino comp. After your December cruise have them re-price the cruise with your comp applied. The only issue becomes you wouldn't really know the actually price of the cruise until after your December cruise, and prices and perks do fluctuate. But that's really the only way I know of to have more than 3 cruises booked.

The other option is to ask to speak to a supervisor and see if they're willing to waive the limitation for you. Doubtful, but you can always ask your CAS rep if it's possible.

Good luck!

I had the same problem and the CAS agent told me just book the cruise with a deposit and after you take 1 cruise call CAS and ask for the comp. I did it and it worked out fine. I would discuss it with the NCL agent before doing just to make sure procedures haven't changed.

This is news to me as I had five booked through CAS....just had to cancel two last minute a couple of weeks ago.....so I too will be curious as I now have three booked....and will probably want to book another in the near future.

I am wondering if it might also have to do with now many cruises you have taken recently? AS I DO know that you are also based on the "play"...so maybe as we have been on a lot of cruises over the past year, that may make a difference....will let you know what happens when I try to book #4 and #5 again in the near future!

I am surprised you can have even 3 comped cruises booked.

They give you those rooms for one reason, and one reason only. Based on your historical play at sea, they feel they can recover enough to pay for the room.

If they book three and you stop playing or significantly reduce your play/donations onboard, it is a bad, bad deal for them.

Simple business.

For the last couple of years I have always had 4 CAS cruises booked and we are cruising 4 times each year. As soon as we return from one I call and book again. Sometimes one of them is my annual Caesar's 7Star cruise, but that's only one per year so perhaps that's considered as 3 CAS and one through CAS but from their partnership with CET.

Have you tried booking a 4th cruise with CAS yet? Please let us know how it works for you.

I'm hoping/planning to book a 4th cruise with them when we return from our next cruise later this year. I haven't been told no yet(yn)

It has been a stressful couple of months....as I took 13 family members to Alaska in September with the anticipation that just DH and I would be on the Escape for 14 days! B2B.....then first came Hurricane Maria, then DH had one doctor leave on a medical issue - so we had to cancel last minute....at the time of this cancellation, we had FIVE cruises booked. Then minus the "two".....B2B that we cancelled....leaves us with three.

We HAVE booked a 9 day for November....so are back to three.....give me a chance to re-figure this upcoming November trip and make excursion plans etc....and I will certainly be looking into #4 and #5 and will keep you posted! Might just book the Bliss for fun?

Not sure from your post...but to clarify, you can book 4 and 5 and 6 and more cruises with CAS. Pretty sure we are up to that many. The issue is how many you can have booked at one time.

And what sort of CAS booking. Discounted, fully comped, inside, suite, etc. That all depends on your level of play.

My post was to follow up on the poster above who had 5 open cruises booked until various things had them cancelling a couple. I do know that I have had 4 'open' comped cruises with CAS consistently for the last four years (since retirement). Each time I return from a cruise we have then booked another leaving 4 'on the books' cruises pending. For me, one of these each year has been a Caesar's comp with the other three being comped by CAS.

Our questions in this thread are about CAS possibly limited some (or all?) to 3 open cruises booked at the same time.

I apologize to the thread. I have used the term "CAS" or Casinos at Sea to represent the offers that I have gotten through the Caesars casinos. I have never gotten an offer from NCL as part of their "Casinos at Sea" program. That would be about me not darkening the door of their at sea casinos very often but often darkening the door of the Caesars' establishments. Caesars offers have at least sometimes had "Casinos at Sea" on their advertising.

We used to just do Caesars cruises too. Then I figured out that taking some of the money I would have played in Las Vegas while picking up the cruise certificate could be used on board to get my next 'comped' cruise. I still maintain SevenStar with Caesars but haven't found it worth it to go beyond that with them. SevenStar status gives us a free balcony cruise each year and two trips with airfare plus very nice suites wherever we go. We visit Las Vegas 3 or 4 times a year now and stay at Harrah's New Orleans comped (and airfare) before and after cruises from there. The Harrah's in New Orleans is a beautiful property if you haven't had a chance to visit there yet.

Now we call CAS when we get home from a cruise to see what they can offer me for the next cruise;)

Was just at Harrah's NOLA. Got off a cruise Saturday. Waiting a few days to phone Miami CAS to see if they will offer anything after 3,000+ points play this last cruise.

I just had 4 NCL Caesar's bookings open. All were made by the Arizona group.

Thanks Sand and Sea and texasreb for the updates. We have a couple cruises out of NOLA coming up. Get to stay at Harrah's on one of them. I just haven't played that much on the ships...seems like I spend enough time on the shore "earning" the cruise deals. But that could change.

During the recent years. I have found some folks that the only place they casino play is on the ship. They like cruising and the cruise line casino comps. To a large degree the wife and I have been leaning toward adopting that idea. Only a few Caesar's properties we care going to anymore. Vegas is not one of them.

Just spoke with CAS Miami. Learned that the account had been "red flagged" since April. I was told it was because more than 2 bookings were open. The policy was changed about a year back. It seems it means to CAS Miami not to make an offer if two bookings are already comped. In fact the rep said "complete the next cruise, then I can make an offer". This policy does not seem to apply to the land-based casino group in Arizona.

Odd though, when I had 4 sailings booked in May. Two were not comped sailings !

There must be some other things they are looking at. Last month we returned from my Escape cruise and called and booked our 4th open comped cruise. Three of them are CAS comps and one is a SevenStar certificate from CET(Harrah's group).

Perhaps its because they are all within the next twelve months?

Or because I am Sapphire (almost Ruby) with CAS?

Or the most likely- because I have shown a pattern of increased on-board play in the last two years:eek:

They were all within 6 months. So maybe time period has something to do with it. Last month I had cancelled the Jan cruise. Which had been booked in 2016. Also had completed an October cruise. So was down to just two open reservations. About to cancel the Feb 2018 cruise. The January I rebooked with RCCL with an aft balcony comped but for taxes.

Whatever reasons they use, the best advice I've received here on CC still applies- Just call and give it a try. The CAS agent put me on hold and talked to someone (I guess the supervisor?) before booking this last cruise.

That's for sure. Call and might get what you want.

Say an ODD thing on my NCL login. It has been this way for months. One of the bookings shows don't owe anything. Yet I know all we have done is just make the deposit back in May. Sit back and see if we get a 90 day email ?
