Porto transfer

Recommended Posts

There is info on this board if you use the SEARCH THIS FORUM facility with any of keywords Leixoes/Porto/Oporto

There is also full info on whatsinport re travel options into town and to the port lodges.

There may be a ship shuttle, but depending on where you dock, the metro can be inexpensive and easy to use.

It is a lovely port of call especially if you enjoy drinking port!

When I was there last year, we got a free shuttle bus to the port entrance, then a tram into Porto. Porto itself is really easy to walk round and is a lovely place to visit. We walked down to the river and sat and had a drink and a bite to eat

There are at least two different docking locations for Porto. We have also seen some ships anchored in a nearby river (Rio Lecos) and tendering their passengers into an entirely different location. If you are actually docked at Lexios, it is possible to walk (assuming you are mobile) to the local tram station where you can catch a modern tram into Porto (either side of the river). Not knowing where your ship will dock (or be tendered) we cannot give detailed instructions. I am posting a link to some port info which might help.

DW and I generally do our own thing so we just go with the flow and deal with the situation once we are at the port. Trying to plan ahead can be very frustrating so we find its often best to know your options and act accordingly.
