Tours with the Kids

We are traveling with a 9 and 12 year old. Those that have done the whole island tours, did your kids like them or were they bored and waiting for the beach part? We are looking at tours with the Brimstone Fortress and Romney Manor, along with the Basseterre.

We are doing a food tour of the St Kitts Chocolate Factory with our kids. Its chocolate... They have to like it, right.[emoji4]

I have a GREAT recommendation! We were on Adventure last week and toured with Javin's My Island Tours. Javin tours with his pet monkey. "Peaches" took the day off on the day we toured and Javin brought along his younger pet, "Cream." At just 3 months, Cream did not lead the rain forest tour or snorkel with us, as his more experienced monkeys do (you should see the photos on his website), but having the monkey along was an adorable added feature that I bet your kids would love. We've toured the island on two previous visits. Royston also provides a great tour if you're really hooked on seeing the fort and batik factory. Javin does not do those two sites. I'll provide a description of Javin's tour, as well as some photos.

We met Javin around 9AM on the pier. There were 10 people in our group. We toured in an open air,safari-type vehicle. Before leaving, Javin asked who wanted to give Cream his bottle. I jumped at the opportunity, as I suspect your kids would. We drove through downtown, with Javin providing facts along the way. Our first stop was at an old cotton ginnery that was undergoing restoration. Javin told funny stories about hanging out there as a kid. We then walked through the rain forest, or as Javin calls it, his "back yard." It's a very easy hike, but you should wear shoes with decent tread. We're in our late 50s and had no problem. After that, we went to the black rocks. Nearly all the tours visit the lava formations, but Javin tosses down a knotted rope for guests to climb down to sea level. Again, a very easy climb, nothing to be concerned about at all. At the top of the black rocks, Javin serves a tail gate lunch. He calls this a "snack" on his website, but it's LUNCH. After lunch, we drove over Timothy Hill (amazing views) on the way to Cockleshell Beach. We stopped on the way to snorkel at a sunken boat. Snorkeling was optional. Only about half our group participated, but I thought it was well worth the effort. We ended the day with an hour or so at the beach. Javin provided additional snacks and drinks at the beach. We might have stayed longer, but rain moved in so we packed up and headed out.

Do you remember what the cost was for the day? We will be there in couple of weeks and my granddaughters would love the monkeys for sure. We want to see Cockleshell Beach and the one that has Shipwreck Bar , think it is South Frier Beach. Thank you so much for the review.
