Reykjavik Hotel

We stayed in the Canopy by Hilton for two nights last summer. It's conveniently located but on a quiet side street. We didn't encounter any noise problems from the street. However, our room was on an upper floor, and faced toward the water -- you may want to request a similar room if you book there.

Galeforce9 — a quick clarification about my previous post: the Canopy isn’t inspiring, but it iwas quieter than the centrally located Radisson, where we stayed on previous visits. We found the Canopy staff very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is newish, and very sleek/minimalist. It seems to have been designed with Millennials as its target customers. Though we’re not of that demographic group, we were content there for two nights.

Much appreciated!

Galeforce, we have been onboard with you twice in the last six months, but are still unsure who you are. :o We are not on the route of the vikings, but maybe later the third time will be the charm! ;)

We stayed for several nights at the small and low-keyed Fosshotel Lind, but also went to look at the much more up-scale Fosshotel Reykjavík, which seemed very nice. It had an attractive beer garden/lounge and the upper floors had wonderful water views. They are within easy walking distance of the city center.

The 1919 has a great deal of late night street noise. We have stayed at the Hilton Nordica and will stay there again. Their Jr. Suites are nice and it is very quiet. It’s about a twenty minute walk into town but we enjoy that.

There is a dearth of luxury hotels in Reykjavik and the prices are ridiculous

Reykjavik has a dearth of good hotels. I've found the Radisson Blu 1900 to be among the best choices. Try checking it out.

Agree - even with the street noise the location is the best. Street noise is worse of course Fri/Sat nights.
