Silver Cloud Antarctica Question

This is for those that have been on first season of Silver Cloud to Antarctica:

Do all four groups of 50 guests each go on all landings and all zodiac rides? I know on Silver Explorer all four groups (max 36) did get to take advantage of each trip; just checking to make sure the same on Silver Cloud.

thanks,

Marc

Hi Marc,

Carol from California boards the Cloud expedition tomorrow and she told me she plans to post here. So, maybe she can provide first hand information.

In the meantime, here is yet another positive Cloud Expedition Antarctica review:

In this review: Once across the Drake Passage most days involved 2 trips ashore in different locations and the transfers by Zodiac, 8 passengers at a time, was handled really well.

This below is part of an excellent review posted on the CC Silversea Silver Cloud Expedition Reviews by LoveAllinclusive, the whole review should be read but this section seems to answer your question

4) Daily Excursions / Rotating Passengers to Shore. Passengers each have a colored sticker on the back of their cabin key that designates an excursion group. Only 100 passengers are allowed ashore at one time, so the ships 200 passengers are divided into 4 groups of 50, and those groups are shuttled by schedule. A typical morning excursion would see a schedule like: 8:00am disembarkation for group Green; 8:15am disembarkation for group Brown. These groups are generally ashore for about 1:15-1:30, with the last group returned to the ship by 10:00am. At 10:00am disembarkation occurs for group Red, and 10:15am for group Black. Everyone is back by 12:00.

We are on the Cloud now and after going through the Drake Passage arrived in Antarctica this morning. We went out on the Zodiac in the morning. We will be going out again in the afternoon. We are in the black group. From what I understand the times rotate. Everyone does have the opportunity to go out on the Zodiacs. They also have Kayaks. You have to go to an orientation to see if you qualify to go. We did, and were supposed to go out this afternoon, but the conditions are not ideal for the kayaks today. They also put you on a numbering system for the Kayak's. It is a lottery and not everyone can go.
