Options for getting from East Perth to Freemantle Cruise port

We will be staying pre-cruise at the Comfort Hotel Perth City which is 200 Hay Street in East Perth.

Obviously we could take a taxi to the port, but as it's quite far we wondered if we could do it on public transport. I even read you can take a ferry down the river to Freemantle, but maybe that wouldn't work as we'll have luggage with us.

Does anyone have any help or advice on what might be best?

There is a passenger ferry that some folks have used. But need to carry all your luggage. Uber, Taxi or private limo. We are going in March. Using SoCal Limos from City Centre. Good price. No need for us to deal with all our luggage.

with the bus (or even the free "City Cat Bus" to the Trainstation) and Train to Fremantle; Cruise Terminal is right beside the Train Station; that's for sure the cheapest option

We took the ferry - fabulous trip down the Swan River - plenty of room for luggage and short walk to ship from where the ferry docks.
