Later this year we are taking a Regent hotel credit and will stay at the Eurostar Grand Marina Hotel (5*) which is close to the port and easy walking distance to everything. It was less money than our hotel credit and we'll use the extra money to take a cab to the ship.

We have stayed at Duquesa de Cordona - a 4* hotel with some of the nicest people running it that we have met -- just charming! It is also in a good location - is not fancy and it is suggested that you ask for a quiet room (we did and it was fine).

I'm not familiar with the hotels that Regent uses but do know the area that we prefer being in.

For our April 4th Mariner cruise, Regent has us at Hilton Barcelona, Avinguda Diagonal. We have also stayed at Hotel Arts, right on the water, very contemporary, wonderful, wonderful staff, a Ritz Carlton property.

They put us up at the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I a few years ago - nice enough property but quite a ways out Av Diagonal. The last few times we were at the Meliá Barcelona Sarrià. Better location there, and they run shuttles downtown. It’s still a good 30-35 minute walk to Plaça de Catalunya but like I said, they run shuttles and the taxis are cheap enough to get around.

On our cruise last fall Regent used several different hotels.

We were at the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos. We unsuccessfully tried to change to a better location but we booked relatively late and were unable to do so.

It was very far from everything but since we booked a private tour the morning of embarkation its location for one night did not really effect us.
