Rare babs135 Posted July 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Just curious: Has anyone done both a pre and post-cruise tour, ie Rocky Mountaineer and Denali, for the same cruise. People always talk about doing one or the other, why not both? Thanks in advance.
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I'm sure the cost has something to do with it, and the time involved. Although the Rocky Mountaineer is Canadian, I would also ask this on the Alaska board under Ports of Call. EM
cheeseclan Posted July 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2018 The one time we did a pre cruise on the Rocky Mountaineer it ended in Vancouver where we got on a RT cruise on Pacific Princess. The one time we did a post cruise it was after a NB Princess cruise and then we got on the Princess rail to Denali. Not sure how you could do a pre and post cruise add on with the way the sailings are currently but i could be missing something.
Heidi13 Posted July 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) Haven't done the Rocky Mountaineer, since we live in Vancouver and drive through the Rockies. The pre & post tour could be possible by flying into Calgary rather than into Vancouver, with both BA & Air Transat having flights from UK to Calgary. You could take the Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver, which I believe is about 6 nights (First Passage to the West). Then join a cruise ship in Vancouver for a 1 way Alaska Cruise up to Whittier/Seaward. After the cruise you can sign up for a post-cruise excursion to Denali. I know Princess offer these post-cruise tours and believe that HAL may offer similar post-tours. Edited July 19, 2018 by Heidi13
