She will be home-ported in Shanghai & Tianjin in the summer, and Australia, Asean and the West Coast of USA in the winter.

Royal Caribbean needs to step up their game by sending Oasis Class to these ports or Dream Cruises will start taking all the business!

I highly doubt you'll see DC sail to the USA this early, if not maybe even ever. They are a cruise line specifically catered to the Chinese upscale demographic. The US demographic would be the complete opposite to their target audience and wouldn't make sense either. I also have my doubts on them coming to Australia, although its nearer, its more way more likely than the West Coast US. Where did you hear this from?

If you google "Dream Cruises celebrate the first steel", you will see that the President of DC said ships will home port in Shanghai and Tianjin in summer and Aus., NZ and ASEAN countries and West Coast US in the winter.

Yup. Seems you're right. Do you think that's a lot of repositioning to do within a year? China to SEA to Oceania to the Western coast, that could be quite interesting to see what itineraries they come up with.

Maybe it will be year about amongst those ports, rather than all in the same year.

Got this from Seatrade Cruise News "Construction for Genting Hong Kong's first 204,000gt Global-class newbuild began Thursday at MV Werften. There Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay revealed this ship and a sister will sail for Dream Cruises, operating summers from Shanghai and Tianjin and the rest of the year in Australia/New Zealand, Southeast Asia and West Coast US."

This is just more madness by Genting HK. You would have thought with the 2 Dream ships doing so badly they would stop to think. 2 200K tons casino ships under the Star Cruises brand will not float anywhere. Dream was suppose to tap into the Southern China gambling/cruising market and take a large slice off the Macau gambling market but it is not working out so good.

And now they want to put their casino ships around the world. RCL is pulling Ovation out of Tianjin, China and Genting wants to go into there. And Quantum is moving their homeport from Shanghai to Singapore for 6 months in a year.Their casino ships in East Asia was doing O.K. until recently and doing very badly now. But casino ships in the rest of the world is one pie in the sky. Why many countries would not even let them homeport their ships in their countries.

I honestly doubt they will have any market in the US and the repo cruise from Shanghai to USA or Australia to Shanghai will be mostly empty. But the interest will be there and it will have to depend on the reviews from the first few months to see whether the US/AU market will embrace it.

If Global Class works out in Asia, West Coast Of US, Australia, be prepared for Royal to send in their Oasis Class to challenge the market.

Dream & Star Cruises are a fan of 2 Night Cruises so the itineraries for Global Class will probably have them

West Coast USA itineraries will probably include LA, San Diego, San Francisco( Not sure if it can go under the Bridge) and a trip down to Mexico.

Australia & New Zealand. The Sounds are out of the picture and she will be too big for most of the ports in NZ & AU.

Asia. Possible, but if you look at the passengers numbers for a 5 night cruise. You will think they are thinking too far fetched.

Looking forward to seeing the itineraries for the Global Class.

Look at RCI, they just added more extended itineraries to Quantum home porting in SG. Maybe Dream Cruises might try to introduce longer 5 Night cruises for USA and Pacific as well. I'm pretty sure the 2 Night options won't do well..

That said, Genting HK has managed star cruise badly in the past, not sure whether their bad strategies will carry on to Dream Cruises. It would be nice if Dream Cruises had a forum of its own as well. :p:p:p

These cruises on Dream really will not appeal to most people who have cruised on the major lines. Dream does things that are 100% opposite  of real cruise lines. Food is something cruise lines have always provided and used to make guest happy. But on Dream it is completely different.  They swipe your cruise card so you can have a meal here is the Dream meal policy.  What kind of cruise line limits you to one meal? And the food made McDonalds look like fine dinning.  Tried once will never again book with a Dream or Star Cruise.

Are there any restrictions on dining in inclusive restaurants?

Guests enjoy complimentary first serving in any inclusive restaurant; additional servings in inclusive restaurants during the same meal period are chargeable.

Interestingly, former Superstar Virgo has now been refurbished to join World and Genting Dream, being renamed Explorer Dream. Read an article saying that Dream cruises plans to use this smaller ship to penetrate and test out new markets. Homeporting in Sydney later this year and eventally moving over to West Coast US as opposed to the larger two vessels of the fleet.

Also "The first 5000-passenger ship is also expected to tackle the Australian and New Zealand markets during the Chinese winter months. Global class ships will feature waterslides and even a rollercoaster for the family market, as well as Palace suites for those seeking luxury offering."
