We are going to cruise with our 1 year old. He loves the water but carnival says no on him swimming because of his swim diapers. How do I solve he problem on letting him play in the water like his older brother. We are going on the triamph

You have 2 options - 1 bad and 1 good.

good - obey the rules and keep him out of the pool

Bad - break the rules and let him go in to the water which will result in them having to drain and disinfect the pool. This will mean that the rest of us will not be able to swim.

I hope that you select the good option.

There is no way around it, babies and toddlers not potty trained can't use the pools or splash areas. It's because swim diapers do not fully contain everything. We cruised with my 15 month old, just found other things to do besides the pool, which would have been hard to use anyways. There is no shallow end and many kids are in the pools pushing and jumping in, I have been almost jumped on many times.

I don’t plan on putting him on the actual pool. I am looking for options or ideas for him to be able to enjoy something similar.

Option number THREE:

bring a small inflatable blow up pool. put a few inches of water in it and let him splash around. bonus: this can double as a bathtub

Yes... a blow up TUB will give him the "splash" area, without taking up too much precious deck space. It's also useful for bathing a child in a shower, which is what will be in your cabin, unless you're in a suite.

The other option is to not take him to the pool deck, so he won't know what he's missing!

Since only suites have bath-tubs, I have read many times of people bringing blow up apparatuses. Perhaps you can find one doable as a mini pool?

And where would she dump the water once done? It can’t go back in the pool

You’re not supposed to use small swim pools either. Dirty diaper water can get all over the deck and risk other passenger’s health and drains into the grey water or possibly pool not the black water system. They’d have to close half the deck and possibly drain the pool to clean up your mess.

Inflatable pool toys other than water wings are generally banned anyway.

This isn't true. You stated in your original post "how can I have him play IN THE WATER like his older brother"?

Simply, you don't. Babies are NOT allowed in the pool(s) and contaminating them so no one else on the ship can swim and enjoy the pool(s) is very selfish. Can you leave your baby with grandparents?

I’ve seen people with very small kiddy pools - but that might not be OK with the ship/fellow passengers.

Can you imagine what any deck area would be like if they were littered with little kiddie pools full of poopie water.

With all due respect, I hardly think a 1 year old will care that his big brother is swimming and he’s not. There’s so much going on around the infant that he will be too busy taking it all in to care whether anyone is swimming.

When you go ashore, go to a beach and let them play in the ocean. Onboard, find other ways to amuse him. Casino maybe? Lots of flashing lights and strange sounds...
