drsel Posted April 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2018 Just wondering if any Cruise line prevents non priority passengers (without ship excursions) from getting off early at a port and/or makes them wait until those in the suites/with high loyalty status/with ship excursions have gotten off? Flatbush Flyer Posted April 21, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2018 Just wondering if any Cruise line prevents non priority passengers (without ship excursions) from getting off early at a port and/or makes them wait until those in the suites/with high loyalty status/with ship excursions have gotten off? The better question would be "do any cruise lines NOT do it" - at least, for tender ports. Whatever the case, this is one of the best arguments for avoiding those high rise apartment complexes on a floating amusement park.
paul929207 Posted April 21, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2018 Most cruise lines do not separate priority vs non-priority for walking off in docked ports. So there is no delay for either group

wheezedr Posted April 21, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2018 And for tenders? Tenders often go first to cruise ship excursions, especially ones that are timed to leave early. You just have to go with the flow. As to which ports are tendered you should see that on your itinerary. If you want to know every port in the world that tenders that would be a task. Remember that even some ports where ships dock may end up as a tender port when there are more ships than docks on a busy day.
Flatbush Flyer Posted April 21, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2018 Also any website with info on which ports are docked and which are tendered? The published itinerary (document or webpage) of most cruise lines will have an icon (usually an anchor ⚓️) that indicates a tender port.

The only time that will happen is if the port is one where you tender.
paul929207 Posted April 21, 2018 #13 Share Posted April 21, 2018 And for tenders? Tender ports are a problem. Passengers on ships tenders usually have priority for the tenders. Beyond that each cruise line has their way of assigning priority to the remaining passengers. Worst case, some people have to wait the better part of 2 hours to get the tender ride to town. George C Posted April 21, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 21, 2018 One of the perks for suites is priority tender service , concierge will walk you to front of the line. If we this perk perfer just to stay on board for most tender ports

SRF Posted April 22, 2018 #16 Share Posted April 22, 2018 At least on some ships, being a suite guest can get you off faster even docked. You meet in the lounge, and the concierge has an elevator blocked for their use. Suite guests get no wait to the proper deck, then by pass the line of people getting off. It is not a huge difference, but there is some.

cheerfire17 Posted April 22, 2018 #18 Share Posted April 22, 2018 On Carnival FTTF have priority tender, and excursions booked through them. We also have cruises coming up on both Princess and Holland America with suites and it does say we get priority. This was a problem on the cunard, QM2, on Canada/ny trip for us... took for ever to get off, and getting on was not easy either... only use one gangway... never again. Rare cruisemom42 Posted April 22, 2018 #22 Share Posted April 22, 2018 Yes, Naples, Dubrovnik, Venice, Koper, Split, Corfu, Katakolon, Valletta. Of these, you will port (not tender) in Naples, Dubrovnik, Venice, Corfu, Katakolon and Valletta. I am not sure about Split -- I've been there but on a small ship (350 pax) that could dock where the ferries dock. I'm not sure about larger ships. I haven't been to Koper. As others have said, if you look at your itinerary, tender ports are usually marked with a special symbol.

Rare Essiesmom Posted April 22, 2018 #24 Share Posted April 22, 2018 We tendered twice in Split, but they have since built or enlarged a dock there and all report docking. Everyone tenders in Santorini. Most do in Kotor, although we did dock on Nieuw Amsterdam. Piraeus, Genoa always docked. EM
