Delay in getting off at ports for non priority passengers without ship excursions?

Just wondering if any Cruise line prevents non priority passengers (without ship excursions) from getting off early at a port and/or makes them wait until those in the suites/with high loyalty status/with ship excursions have gotten off?

The better question would be "do any cruise lines NOT do it" - at least, for tender ports. Whatever the case, this is one of the best arguments for avoiding those high rise apartment complexes on a floating amusement park.

And for tenders?

Tenders often go first to cruise ship excursions, especially ones that are timed to leave early. You just have to go with the flow.

As to which ports are tendered you should see that on your itinerary. If you want to know every port in the world that tenders that would be a task. Remember that even some ports where ships dock may end up as a tender port when there are more ships than docks on a busy day.

The only time that will happen is if the port is one where you tender.

Tender ports are a problem. Passengers on ships tenders usually have priority for the tenders. Beyond that each cruise line has their way of assigning priority to the remaining passengers. Worst case, some people have to wait the better part of 2 hours to get the tender ride to town.

At least on some ships, being a suite guest can get you off faster even docked.

You meet in the lounge, and the concierge has an elevator blocked for their use. Suite guests get no wait to the proper deck, then by pass the line of people getting off.

It is not a huge difference, but there is some.

tendered ports yes. the first 2-3 will be held for ship excursions and suite pax/loyalty of course there can be as many as 4-6 tenders pulled dup alongside just waiting to begin so the wait can be minimal, especially if they open both sides of the ship

on docked ports, you can usually mingle in with the crowd since they really don't leave as a group.. they meet on the pier somewhere.

This was a problem on the cunard, QM2, on Canada/ny trip for us... took for ever to get off, and getting on was not easy either... only use one gangway... never again.

Yes, Naples, Dubrovnik, Venice, Koper, Split, Corfu, Katakolon, Valletta.

Of these, you will port (not tender) in Naples, Dubrovnik, Venice, Corfu, Katakolon and Valletta. I am not sure about Split -- I've been there but on a small ship (350 pax) that could dock where the ferries dock. I'm not sure about larger ships.

I haven't been to Koper.

As others have said, if you look at your itinerary, tender ports are usually marked with a special symbol.

We tendered twice in Split, but they have since built or enlarged a dock there and all report docking. Everyone tenders in Santorini. Most do in Kotor, although we did dock on Nieuw Amsterdam. Piraeus, Genoa always docked. EM
