Mariner Speciality Restaurants - Lunch

Are speciality restaurants open on the day of sailing? If so, does sailing day count as a Sea Day on the Utimate Dining Package? Also, please evaluate the speciality restaurants and recommend dishes.

We booked Chops lunch for embarkation day on a 3 day Mariner cruise, so they are open.

My wife and I booked Chops on line for our 4-night July 9 Mariner cruise. However, when we got there, they told us that the lunch service for that day had been cancelled and that we could either use the booking for lunch on the sea day (day 4) or the money would be refunded as a refundable on-board credit. We took the credit since we also had a dinner reservation at Chops for day 4. I think that they only open for lunch on embarkation day if they receive a minimum number of prepaid reservations.

Flat fee. Last time we did it, the lunch menu seemed abbreviated from dinner.

Menu is smaller but still really good a few different 8 oz filets not as many sides.

No Berkshire pork belly appetizer at lunch, the one thing I love to order.

My understanding is that only Jamie’s is currently open for lunch on embarkation day, but that both Chops and Jamie’s are open on the sea day of the 4 day cruise.

My 9/3 sailing had Chops Lunch embarkation day at one point, do not have that now in the cruise planner; I don’t think these sell well.

Was on Anthem in April and tried to do chops lunch first day and was sent over to Jamie’s. Will never do specialty lunch embarkation day again had to wait 20 minutes for hostess to seat me because they were too busy doing reservations for other guests.
