Newbie to Thomson.

Recommended Posts

Having been loyal to Royal Caribbean for many years we thought we would try a new cruise line. We have booked Discovery August 2018 Baltic Explorer. I have a few questions if people wouldn't mind.

1. Check in is 12.30pm onwards, is that the earliest boarding time. Royal tend to say this but as soon as the ship is ready they let you on board around 11ish.

2. Is there a Restaurant opening for lunch on arrival.

3. Can you pre-book anything online before your holiday e.g Speciality Restaurants ?

4. Do they do afternoon tea ? Are there places open for late night snacks. ?

Any other info on Thomson cruises / Discovery would be most appreciated.

1. They open the check in desks about half an hour before the first flight is due to arrive.

2. The buffet restaurant is always open for lunch on arrival day; also the Snack Shack if you just want something light. The waiter service restaurant was closed that day when we were on D2 in May.

3. You cannot pre-book speciality restaurants/spa until you are on board. If you want to book a specific date go to the screes at reception as soon as you board to book.

4. Afternoon tea is served daily in the buffet restaurant. Late night snacks - including great curry - available in the Glass House.

We were on Discovery 2 (virtually identical to Discovery) in May and go back on her on the 27th of this month. We will be on your Discovery in May when she sails from Malaga to Southampton prior to starting her Baltic/Scandinavian itineraries - will post any changes we note on board after that.

Thanks for the info, anything else after your cruise would be great. Thanks.
