Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever been refused for this credit I have just had a message saying it is not available on the promotion type of cruise I booked I booked last minute pack and go guarantee cabin I cannot believe this is true

I have also posted this on the P&O site in case USA members know better than us

Yes I’ve read it isn’t available on some fare types.

I have booked a similar type of fare before - cheap as getting close - and never been refused obc for that reason why now?

the promotion type of cruise

Can you elaborate on this?

Industry rates, travel agent rates, (sometimes) casino rates do not qualify. Usually all other retail rates do qualify.

A last minute drop n go type of rate is a retail rate and does qualify.

I do not understand the situation either I booked GOFARE and have been told this does not get the obc but it is not complimentary - special TA or anything just an advertised fare on lots of sites that I grabbed. I have been discussing this with P&O on their facebook message and will see what they eventually say

From the PDF on shareholder benefit -

Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer.

I cannot see that the exclusions you mention apply to the OP. I doubt that "anyone cruising on a reduced-rate" means a special price offered to the public. It is more likely to mean the "Family and Friends" deal available to cruise line staff to bring their own family and friends. The other exclusions are self-explanatory.

I don't think it matters what we think, more likely it matters what the person doing the assessing of whether OBC will be paid or not. If your cruise fare excludes you , there is no comeback. I just wish I knew what that cruise fare was.

As I said previously, we have had only one cruise refused, it was a sale price with P&O so we missed out on the $50 AUD OBC. We have done other cruises similar and received the OBC. So who knows.

The OP said it was a GOFARE. I understand the point you make that it doesn't matter what we think. Years ago I did have a situation with Princess where we booked a cruise to Tahiti that included domestic flights to/from Sydney. We got the cruise at a good price, but there was no mention of included flights on our booking. When I enquired, I was told that, at the price we paid, flights were not included. This didn't sound reasonable to us because the cruise included domestic flights, however, we had to accept Princess' ruling on the matter.

The P&O cruise we were refused on was also a GO Fare but we have received the OBC on others.

The explanation & was given by P&O office staff was that the gofare was not available from their office only via a travel agent - but what that has to do with it I do not understand and if this is so why is it not notated on their offers it was not all that cheap it worked out at $88 per day per [person which although good is not outstanding as it is last minute as well

Yvonne

We have a GOFARE booked, and also found it hard to get our shareholder credit added. Kevin used a private message on Facebook to P & O and got a reply within 4 hours that it had been applied (also got a new invoice showing that)

We have booked other times with P & O & never had this problem.

Cheers

Tanya
