Pursuit

We are considering cruising aboard the Pursuit from Chile to Lisbon next spring, but are a little concerned about crossing the Atlantic in a 30,000 ton ship. Does anyone have any experience with crossing in a smaller ship? We did it last year but were in a much larger ship and had no problems at all with motion sickness. I would appreciate any and all comments. Thanks

We have cruised Azamara throughout Asia, Antarctica, Norway, Dubai to Singapore-and have never encountered seas to cause sea sickness. Both Azamara’s ships were steady and handled the seas very well. They have wonderful captains who care about their passengers. We have traveled on Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth and this large ship encountered rough seas and tipped sideways. So big ships are not necessarily better.

We have once on Azamara had seas rough enough to cause significant movement. That was in the South China Seas when we hit the edge of a cyclone. Even then it was not too bad - we still managed to get to dinner. The ship handled the bad weather as well as a HAL ship we were on handled skirting around the edge of hurricane in the Caribbean. When it’s rough Azamara put bowls of crystallised ginger out - ginger is good for settling tummies!

We had the very rough seas in the South China Seas.

It was the grazing of a cyclone and the crew closed many areas and outdoors some flooding from the hot tubs and thalotherapy pool.

Have been on very large ships and smaller and they all move. Even the big ones in bad storms it is hard to walk.
