So we are heading out on the Dream in 2 weeks, staying at the Holiday Inn West Bank the night before. It is on the other side if the river but room, parking for 8 days and breakfast was $199. Plus Uber to the pier is only about $9. Will let you know how it was after the cruise.

I'll give you some options I know of. If you want to be closest to the French Quarter...like a couple blocks. Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome. They don't have a shuttle. Lyft is $8 to the port.

If you want to be a bit longer walk to the quarter or short walk to streetcar that will take you to the quarter and closest to port. Hampton Inn Convention Center. They have a shuttle to and from but you have to pay $14/night to park...which is the same as parking at Fulton garage and taking their shuttle.

A bit further away in from the Quarter in the Garden District is Prytania Park. The let you park there for free but you have to stay 2 nights. I don't think they provide transportation. $6 Lyft to the port.

Country Inn and Suites Metairie. This one is 6 miles away but usually has the best price, free parking, free hot breakfast, free shuttle to the port. Only catch is you have to find your own way back. It's a $16 Lyft.

Holiday Inn Westbank. Parking and breakfast for two included. You have to find your own transportation to and from port. Lyft is $10.

The other option is finding your own hotel deal, parking at Fulton, and taking their free shuttle to and from the port...which is what I have always done. Parking at Fulton is $14/day covered or $12/rooftop. You can only get the rooftop rate by booking online ahead of time.

Thank you for all the information you provide for the New Orleans Hotels, it is definitely a help in making decisions for us out of towners.

Can you tell any pros or cons for the Hampton Inn and Suites Convention Center hotel. Looking at possibly booking it for a February 2019 cruise on the Carnival Dream. Just wondering if it is a decent location. Haven't booked any air yet so I'm not sure if we will be getting in early to go explore around town or not.

Thanks,

  • 3 weeks later...

I researched a lot of hotels when we booked our cruise out of NOL for September. We decided on Hampton Inn Convention Center.

Here are the reasons why:

1. The price was right, 100.00 per night

2. Free shuttle to and from the cruiseport (We are staying 2 nights before. Our return flight leaves at 6:00pm, so the plan is to tour until time to leave)

3. Free hot breakfast

4. Walking distance to the trolly line

5. Located between the Garden District and French Quarter. (We found just as much to do in Garden District as the French Quarter)

6. Uber to and from the airport is only 30.00 each way

7. It was highly rated and in a quiet area. I read a ton of reviews.

As for the cons I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out in sept.

Please go to the New Orleans section under Ports of Call for more information about things to do in New Orleans. Almost all cruise ships dock next to the Riverwalk Outlet Mall which is next to the New Orleans Convention Center.
