Boston - Walk from Cruise Port to 1 Long Wharf (Whale Watching Trip)

It appears to be about 2.5 miles from the cruise port to 1 Long Wharf to get the whale watching tour. Is there a safe way to walk? If not, what is the recommended way to get to 1 Long Wharf? Thanks.

Unless there is something you want to see along the way (or way back) uber or taxi is an alternative.

Several cruise lines including Princess offer a shuttle from the Boston cruise pier to Faneuil Hall which is near the harbor.

Thought of that, but HAL does very few Boston port stops (they do sail out of there though), so I doubt anyone would know.
