Fogfog Posted June 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2018 For our TA, we are planning on renting a car, driving to drop off and getting a shuttle to the pier. Any advice? Drop off at the airport vs another office/rental local? Which car rental agencies do a direct Port Everglades shuttle for cruisers? TYIA

Drop off at the airport vs another office/rental local? Which car rental agencies do a direct Port Everglades shuttle for cruisers? TYIA For my money, don't bother driving to the drop off area. There isn't any area to wait by the drop off area. Keep the group together and have everyone take the shuttle to the port. Rental offices near the port can often be crowded with long waits. My suggestion is to use Avis with an office near the port entrance.
coolio Posted June 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2018 We have always used Alamo. No problem in dropping the car off at the airport, walking outside the door and a shuttle is there. Might have to wait a few minutes, however the shuttle runs all the time. Same for Miami airport
Baron Barracuda Posted June 21, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Suggest you just ask google. Querying "car rental with free shuttle to port everglades" produces a number of results including several CC threads.
barbette165 Posted June 21, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Alamo now have an office at Port Everglades, which provides the shuttle to the terminals. As a result, I don’t think they still run the shuttle from the airport.
Noreen411 Posted June 21, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Hi We rented a car from Avis that we returned to Fort Lauderdale airport. We took a cab to the pier to get on the ship. I prefer a cab over shared shuttles as it is just your party. You don’t have to wait for others to load or unload. It was very easy. As a result, I don’t think they still run the shuttle from the airport. Not just Alamo, but a number of the car rental companies now have offices just outside Port Everglades and their shuttles from from those locations to the Port. Folks really need to check their rental company before booking if they are expecting a shuttle from the airport location to the pier. Also, a good place to ask these questions is over on the Florida Departures board, where the subject is frequently discussed.
zanderblue Posted June 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Avis have a depot right next to Hyatt. Shuttle to port is just a few minutes.
