Dockyard's camera has been sweeping and not seeing any runners, nor see the mini-bus or golf carts racing for pickup ...

Oh, no ... that's not good, Always sad to know that someone missed the ship, with their belongings & travel docs handed over to the port agent for custody.

Just lookup Google flights for one-way fare back to NY tomorrow, lowest is like $375 p/p - ouch, plus overnight lodging, etc.

Let's hope they'll make it back & someone took the port agent's # and called back to explain the whereabouts, and, the ship captain will give them a little grace period to get back & wait. Not all NCL ship captains do that - they will leave on the dot.

All the lines, ropes & what not are still not loosen yet, Willie's crew on the pier aren't on standby yet @ 3 PM BDA time ... There is a gathering on the Waterfront - doing lookout.

Things on the Summit side of the pier are quieting down too, most managed to get back early/on-time with these overnight visits.

Fingers crossed !!

Thanks

List was down to 4 folks

Leaving now

Great review dex! if you get a chance can you snap a pic of the Haven Courtyard menu, I know its a small menu with like a hot dog, onion rings, a wrap etc. Just wanted to see it as its hard to find. much appreciated! Heading out on the escape in July!

Charging for an Angus steak dinner in the Haven? Even for an NCL loyalist who loves the Haven, this sounds like a new low. I'm disappointed to hear this, and hope it doesn't become standard practice.

Errrr ... a good late evening to all, Dex.

#Cough #Cough. Welcome back to NY, but you are ... way, way too early for even pre-dawn arrival. I don't think meatball_nyc can get to Pier 88 to wave, maybe - on the lookout for "smoke" signals from the building's balcony overlooking the harbor as the ship come in ... shortly.

Holy cow, just checking a short time ago, AIS tracking has the Escape doing 20 knots, basically all ahead, full speed in the engine room. Pretty soon, they would be shutting down the casino ... with a 2 AM arrival ?? very possible with about 30 nm remaining to port.

We know, this is sometimes done for medical emergencies short of a medevac with someone onboard ...

Before I forget to ask, how was WiFi internet, did they offer upgrade options and prices for various packages, etc. Just post those later on, TIA.

Hope you are having a great evening !! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Sorry I didn't catch this earlier.

I glanced at it and saw some items. Onion rings, burger, chicken wrap, fries, hot dog. Also looked like a meatball sub.

I was surprised too. Guess they weren't selling much upcharge items in MDR so they had to try the Haven.

Thanks MKing for the tracking info.

We did get in early but can't say I recall much of last night!

I know I did get up around 4 a.m. to get some water and we were already docked. Heard someone mention that we were "out in the harbor" last night for awhile.

Wifi very good actually for a ship. I didn't do any speed tests but someone did a few weeks back and in the 1.4 up/down speeds. I could post pretty quickly on CC with pictures loading with slight delay.

Left ship at 8:10 and through customs and at 48 and 12th in about 10 minutes - self carry bags. At EWR by 9 for 11:30 flight.

Yesterday we did slides and tube racer slides about 30 times between 5 and close at 6. Limited or no wait. It was a bit cooler though.

I'll post some more pics and answer what I can.

Yesterday started off as a nice day all around. However, calamity at sea later arrived as we entered the Haven pool area around 4 p.m. to see nets on pools and lounger area. Rumblings from various folks about "poop deck" and "haz-mat team" so it appears someone's snowflake dropped a Baby Ruth bar in the pool. Carl Spackler was no where to be found though and nets remained this a.m.

As mentioned, we then headed to slides for numerous drops and racing in the slides.

Bummer for the Haven pool to be down on the last sea day. Thanks for taking us along with you!

Great band Kartune on board first week. Bonni on our M&G knows them. I was a bit skeptical and the one singer even plugged his band at the M&G which I thought was cheesey.

Probably best band I've ever seen on any ship!!!!!!

It was like a rock concert from noon to five. Even the great "ENCORE" which they did. Crowd favorite.

NCL - KEEP THEM. They even had their own groupies sailing.

My fault! I had asked Tommy to talk about his band since I knew they were very good! Such a switch from the usual pool bands!

Someone asked how we avoided a conflict with the tour...

When setting up the M & G I simply asked and they said that they would take care of it.

No problem.

The band was fabulous!

Hope NCL keeps them for awhile.

Now, that was a quick, smooth & fast disembarkation - and, being in Haven, escorted into the terminal building ... Did you do Uber or use Dial 7 or Carmel car service to EWR & did the driver collected round-trip tolls ? Where did you meet the car service/driver for the ride to EWR ?

And, you are already home this afternoon or still in transit ?

Here's ship live webcam view of Lower Manhattan, while you slept & missed SOL.

As for the pool being out of service, when I saw one of your posted pictures ... I got a little worried and hoping for the best, there was some heated discussion here on CC about kids playing. Oh, well. Sounded like WiFi works & that's all that matter to me as a backup.

DW and DD did their most of any trip and were in charge of ground transport. DW and DD have Uber app so we did Uber XL to EWR. One set fee with tip option after trip with rating as well. We were at 48 and 12 but driver called and at 47 and 12 so walked block to car.

Got home early evening with smooth connection.

We got escorted down elevator to forward disembarkation line then on our own. There was a lane on right side for Haven with woman standing there but no need as only about 8 people total going into building at that moment. Staff ushered everyone through escalator and building to customs. Waved a bunch of us to porter lines for customs as no one there.

What is Vibe? Do you have to pay extra for it?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Vibe - "The Vibe Beach Club on Norwegian Cruise Line is an exclusive space for adults 18 and over. Although the location varies by ship, each club manages to achieve a quiet, laid-back atmosphere and the feeling of being worlds away. ... There are no cabanas on Norwegian Escape. The area itself is both functional and stylish."

Yes, it cost ~$100 for a week for using the Vibe, you get a pass for it.

You need to rush to get a pass when you get on board, straight down to the Headliners.

Those wanted one would arrive to the cruise terminal before 8am-9am to try to get a lower boarding card #.

Actually they have increased the price to $129 for a week pass. Still COMPLETELY worth it!

On same cruise, very well covered. Was surprised how fast we got as non Haven. On by 11:10.

I agree on the great crew, fun at the pool 2nd day with Kartune.

I learned there were 5,000 on board from an officer. Only a few times did things feel crowded, poll, shops, elevators at times and tough to get Cagneys.

We had priority disembarkation, Danielle escorted us right to deck 7. We were heading home by a little after 9. No line at customs, very rare.

That is very quick. Last off last sailing 10:18 first on at 10:58 which is fast. So if you were on at 11:10 that is very quick.

IIRC they said 800 kids on our sailing and this week is 1,600 kids.

Customs for us at 8:10 was also very quick. Maybe people were lingering to later times?

Pretty amazing, actually, a very good job on turning the ship around with 5,000 souls boarding - no matter what many children were on the sailing. Thankfully, we cruise off-peak and the biggest # was like 4,700 on the BA - just realized it's almost twice the headcounts vs. the Gem/Jewel class ships.

First picture is of laundry machine options except the special haz mat items.

2nd picture of Haven pool area sometime before the incident to close the pool for the last day.

Last picture if the guy who came through. We were going to Teppanyaki Thursday night and Zdravko happened to be walking past us. He stopped and asked how things were going (he remembered us from the CC M&G). We said great but said maybe he could help us out with one thing. I explained that our Lat's wine hadn't shown up the first night. I told him we went to the Cruisenext on Monday and told Glenn without any luck thus far. (Glenn had a sheet of paper "homemade form" with various headers across the top and about 8-10 names down the left side.)

Zdravko was sorry and asked if he could send some prosecco. I said no need for that, just what we were supposed to get. By the time we got back to the room this was there. YEAH ZDRAVKO!

That is one reason it is good to go to the CC M&G - we also had the card with numbers but nothing too compelling to bother one of the folks.
