Review: QM2 Britannia Single Stateroom

My experience of noise on the QM2 is slightly different. I stayed in Cabin 3012 on the QM2 last year on the Norwegian Fjords cruise. I don't stay up to the early hours but trying to sleep was difficult. Because of the tween deck and the location of the Britannia Restaurant across the full breadth of the ship guests going to or leave the Queens Room and G32 either walk through the Britannia Restaurant the only way to go forward is through the corridor by the 3 deck single cabins or Art Gallery. So late in the evening and into the small hours I found the noise from loud conversations and heavy footsteps kept me awake or woke me. It wouldn't take too much to close off access at night from the aft staircase on 3 deck to the corridor as this issue disturbed me sleep every night. There was also a fair bit of vibration, I guess from being low and fairly aft on the ship. It's disappointing to here that the cabins on 2 deck are affected by noise there. I had hoped they would be quieter as guests leaving the Britannia restaurant can exit down the main corridor directly to the Grand Lobby. The cabin was lovely but the noise and vibration would discourage me again in the future.

I had no issue with 3012 - i saw some people pass by when leaving my cabin, but at night was not bothered at all! Since the Mary has her constant return passengers- they all know their ship and the " hidden" passageways- even though the walk through the art galery on the opposite site is always nice to walk through! I would book that cabin or one of the other singles on deck 3 in a heartbeat!

I am wondering if you had a small refrigerator and where it was located? I couldn’t tell from those great pictures. Also, there are some cabinets on the right as you enter the room in your pictures, was that additional storage?

Affirmative on both.

The small refrigerator is located under the desk (and under the kettle in my photos).

Have just returned from 2 nights in this cabin again.

Still love it, the position is perfect and it's interesting watching everything going on dockside as you are so close. It has so much natural light coming from the two large windows.

Re: the shower, I thought it was fixed as I had a lovely hot shower in the morning, but on the second morning, I couldn't get it above warm again so really not sure what's going on there.

Hi, I was in one of the single cabins on Deck 2 (QM2), and absolutely loved it. Not once during the entire 12 days did I meet anyone in the hallway outside the room -- it was that private! (I was on the holiday tour, so the ship was packed.) I loved the fact that I did not have to do any stairs (which one must when in the Deck 3 cabins, although one could use the small elevator). I also like that I could sneak into the back of the casino and be right in the middle of the main lobby action; I could use the door toward the Brit. Rest. and walk a few yards right in; or I could slide another door open and be right across from the Pub.

The location was the best on any ship I ever sailed!

The size of the cabin was also generous, and the bathroom was superb. My only disappointment was that they had removed the small sofa table, but my cabin steward brought me when when I asked, politely. (I also tipped him $20 for the effort.) I had plenty of storage (2 large cases, 4 suit bags, 2 small cases -- Yes, I travel HEAVY), and my cases all stored either under the bed ot behind the curtains. The window was large, and I enjoyed lounging on the chaise for breakfast or to rest.

The only noise I ever heard was the in port, when they were prepping the gangway, as it was almost directly beneath my cabin. However, the entrance/exit to the ship was only down a short flight of stairs. It was the best location.

That is a beautiful stateroom and I have to say much nicer than my double on deck 5 and don't get me wrong we were very happy with our room and where it was [apart from the deadly square door knobs] I agree with Host Hattie makes me want to sail alone.

"DEADLY SQUARE DOOR KNOBS" ---- YES!!! Who on God's green earth thought up these instruments of torture.

Thanks for this review! This just made me change from an inside stateroom to a KC oceanview stateroom like the one in your great photos for my 9 day transatlantic crossing next year. Stateroom 3010 and it was the last one available.

The bed seems to be maybe 4 ft (1.2 m) wide?

I was in 3010 this December. You will love it. I heard no noise from the corridor outside, and while a few  people do use the corridor to pass to and fro, it is a very small number and was of no disturbance to me.  

The view from the windows is amazing.

The bed is narrower than many - it being a single cabin - but I'm well over 6 feet and slept well.

You will realise when you get on board how lucky you are that they have made you change.  Brilliant cabins.  I loved the double picture windows (first time I've not had a balcony on any ship).  Loved the cabin so much, am booked in them again three times in the next two years.  Definitely wouldn't consider an "upgrade" from one of them.

The bed is a small double.

These KC cabins sell out pretty quickly, but I was lucky to nab an Eastbound Trans-Atlantic in 2020 in the same cabin.

Hi, all.  I have to say, the single cabins on the QM2  far outshine those on the QV.  The one I had on the QM2 (#2018) was absolutely gorgeous!  The quality of the furniture was excellent, and I enjoyed having the sofa/lounge. The closet seemed enormous.  And the bathroom fixtures could not be beat. 

The cabin on the QV, although it had excellent drawer space, had an awful closet.  Only one side was usable for hanging anything; the other side was filled with the safe, and only something about a foot long could hang there.  (I could not even hang my ties!)  This meant forcing all of my formal wear to one side of a small closet.  There was no sofa or comfortable lounge chair (only the desk chair), which I thought really detracted from the comfort of the room.  I either had to sit on the side of the bed or on a stiff-backed writing chair.  (No lounging in the room!)  And the bathroom was SMALL, with those awful plastic shower curtains.  (Compared to the one on the QM2, it was almost a toilet stall!)
