Rare GeezerCouple Posted December 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2017 We are trying to get set up to purchase tickets on the train in Norway. When we enter the card info, and then proceed to register the card, it is supposed to sort of "charge" 1 Norwegian Krone, sort of a "hold" (like at some restaurants, to check the card is valid, etc.). However, it fails every time. We've called MasterCard, and they say they aren't seeing any attempted charges. By Chat, Norway Train says "that happens sometimes, try PayPal, or just phone us". So, it doesn't work for MasterCard, nor for Visa, nor for PayPal. If we can't get a charge to work for 1 Norwegian Krone, then it's not going to work for the full amount of the tickets. (We can't actually buy them yet, as that date of travel isn't quite on sale yet. But we'd be a LOT happier if their system had "accepted" our card "registration". Any of 'em :( ) We've tried it with our regular home WiFi and we've tried it with a VPN. No difference. Has anyone in the USA done this online? Was there some sort of handy trick? Many thanks. Rare GeezerCouple Posted December 6, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted December 6, 2017 UPDATE: Just Chatted with them... and we'll need to call them. So we'll just do that with Skype. :)
Rare GeezerCouple Posted December 7, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted December 7, 2017 UPDATE: Just Chatted with them... and we'll need to call them. So we'll just do that with Skype. :) The Fates were smiling today. VISA and MasterCard still failed on their own, but PayPal worked. Also, for those interested, when each day's trains get posted, throughout the day (it seems), at first, Komfort class does not appear to exist. When I Chatted with Norway Rail (very nice and helpful people there!), they said that they "could see Komfort class" and suggested again that we called. But some hours later (approx half a day), Komfort class showed up, and was indeed bookable. So we are all set :) (Except for some tours, which are next on the list.) It's really nice that one can select seats. GC
