Hamburg flight & departure

Vacation time is scare.

I get most of the risks but how risky is this:

Leave NYC on Friday night, arrive in Hamburg before noon on Saturday. Is that a reasonable amount of time to make a 9:00 p.m. sail away on MSC? It's a 6 hour margin of error.

Yes I realize that biting the bullet & & arriving Friday before noon would be better. If that is not an option, can we do the above?

Airline choices are Swiss Air, Brussels Air or Luftansa if that makes a difference.

Of course we would have trip insurance. First cruise day is a sea day. First port is Southhampton England.

If you arrive in Hamburg in time or max 6pm , you will have no problem to be in time at Hamburger Hafen. Taxi from airport to Cruise Terminal takes around 25 minutes in normal traffic.

Is your stopover with Lufthansa in Frankfurt or Munich? I would decide for Lufthansa then, as they have many flights to Hamburg daily, more or less every other hour.

Flughafen Hamburg is not that big, not to compare with NYC but we get along😉

Yes.

Is it risky?

Absolutely.

Never a good idea to fly in the day of the cruise.

I don't know your travel dates, but searching a random Friday in July I found a United non-stop flight to Hamburg from EWR, leaving at 5:30 pm and arriving at 7:15 am. Is that a possibility?

There are also some options with SAS via Copenhagen but they are what I would call expensive.

Are you departing from Hamburg or Kiel?

I believe both are doable but it would be wise to fly in the day before "just in case"
