Ferry ride from Skagway to Haines

I was wondering if anyone who has taken the 45 minute ferry ride from Skagway to Haines has ever seen whales? I will be going on August 7th and was wondering the possibility of this

No, but you may see eagles if the visibility is good.

Didn't see any whales and nearly froze while on the open deck looking for them during month of May.
