What do you bring in your carry on and what do you typically do during the time between boarding and when your room is ready?

We’ve only been on one cruise and it was a three nighter in 09! So...it’s been a while. ;) leave Monday for five nights and looking forward to it.

Meds, docs, bathing suit, change of clothes, electronics.

Depending on the time we go to MDR or buffet or a bar until room is ready.

Since our carry on is a backpack we sometimes explore the ship.

Except for SF embarkation, we fly in. No short cruises- so we each check one 29" TravelPro weighing <50 lbs (even when flying bizclass).

We also each have a small 12" TravelPro rollaboard, which we keep with us.

Contents include electronics, meds, Rx eyewear, essential toiletries, important documents, plus one change of underwear and shirt (appropriate for dinner). We fly dressed "country club casual" (Oceania's dress code for dinner) and wear/carry sweater/jacket depending on itinerary.

As for wine, we generally purchase 6-12 bottles at embarkation port and use collapsible, handled cardboard wine club carriers (3 or 6 bottle size), which were transported in checked bags then opened to hold purchased wine). Each carrier is then bungeed to the handle of one of the small rollaboards (perfect fit).

Since we gave an ample stock of the wine carriers, we just toss them before heading home.

Valuables, electronics, medication, swimsuits,I daytime outfit and one dinner outfit, first aid kit

^^^Plus two bottles of wine (Royal Caribbean) and shoes that could be worn in dining room. We had a piece of luggage get lost and one that got damaged and sat in a downpour so we follow the "better safe than sorry" plan now. We try to stay out of everyone's way with them until the cabins are ready.
