Cruise documents

We booked Seabourn Encore in December. As we will leave home many weeks before the shipping date, we asked our TA to make sure that the necessary documents would be sent to us before departure from home. However, he seems unable to comply. Has anyone had the same problems and how did you solve them?

All you need to board the ship is your one page boarding pass. This is available to print from your computer once you have made final payment and completed your on-line registration form.

We often leave home a month or more before our cruise. All we have is the boarding pass that we print before leaving home. That and your passport is all that is needed to check in and get your ship key card.

We just got back from an Alaskan cruise and I forgot to bring the luggage tags again....no problem....they always have them there where you drop your luggage....just fill them out then and attach to luggage.

The only thing we got from Seabourn before the cruise is a package with a booklet of general information and the shore excursions (this can all be found on-line once you have booked your cruise), along with the luggage tags that I forgot.

Enjoy your cruise.

We use a British based cruise specialist who always sends us a package of Seabourn luggage labels, confirmation letter, etc. It usually arrives during the month before departure so perhaps the time of despatch to guests depends on when its sent out by Seabourn. It depends on how many weeks in advance you needed it.

Its true that you don't strictly speaking need to have it all with you on day one, but its very useful and reassuring to have it for the first few cruises. Luggage is usually taken from you first before the rest of the check in formalities, so it speeds things up to have everything labelled in advance.

I used to print and present the boarding pass at check-in, but I don't bother with that anymore The check-in agents don't even look at the boarding pass the last few times. All you need is your passport.

Obviously your cruise agent has to have received the package from Seabourn before they can forward it to you, so could it be that they hadn't received it before you left home? In any case, as others have stated, that package is more for brand-building on SB's part and for excitement-building on your part. The luggage tags are not really necessary, and all you need to board is your passport.

I figured as much because the only person to look at the paper this time was some one before we ever got to the Seabourn check in.

DH is a Type A and it drives him crazy when I forget the luggage tags. He always prints out several copies of the boarding pass just so we will have one when we finally get to the ship.

I once arrived at Malaga for a check-in and did not have my boarding pass for Odyssey. Big palaver because the police etc would not let us

in the building. But soon a crew member walked by and I asked him to return with a check-in staff person. When they returned they helped us get it. So by all means, at least have the check-in ticket with you!

Happy and healthy sailing!

Thats a good point by Markham. Earlier this year we were on a cruise out of Barbados and they wouldn't even let us into the port until we showed the some kind of confirmation/itinerary - which we did not have but luckily, our friends did!
