This is a great idea---thanks Laura!:)

Is it likely that the casinos will go "smoke" free? I find it odd that you can smoke only designated places except the casino. I have seen the row of 10 machines that say no smoking, usually filled with somers. Fewer and fewer people smoke today, give us a break!!

Well I hope they certainly do. Smoking is a disgusting habit and really bad for you. Also how do you think the non smoking dealers feel? I think they themselves will push for non smoking casinos.

I'll be going on an Alaskan cruise on Coral Princess in September. Does anyone know if they have a poker table on this ship? HAL and Carnival have had one on the last cruises I've been on, but this is my first Princess cruise.

Hello and welcome to the Casino section.

I was on Princess last year and they did have a poker table, however, it was computerized. No live dealer. This would be Texas hold'em. Now they did have other poker games (three card poker) with a live dealer if you are interested in that. Good luck!

Laura, thanks for the new forum for us wild ones!

More and more we are seeing the computerized blackjack; hope it doesn't completely take over.

Kathy:)

Hello tomko2! Welcome to the new section.

I don't think we will see a computerized takeover of blackjack. What we will see is continuous shuffle machines taking over though. Love 'em or hate 'em I guess.

We were on RCL Navigator of the Seas last October, and they had instituted a "no smoking in the casino ON FORMAL NIGHTS" policy. I have asked on the Princess forum (we're due to cruise with them this coming December) and someone who recently cruised with them said they have the same policy now.

My DW and I are both smokers. Truth be told, we had no problem with this policy. Most formal nights are sea days, when the casino is open all afternoon - the smoking ban goes into effect at the early seating dinner hour. Since we are late seating diners, we played at the tables up until the time "mo smoking" started, had plenty of time to get ready for the evening, and caught a show after dinner.

Me too!

Computerized blackjack reminds me of the episode on Star Trek TNG where Scotty (who had been in suspended animation) is sitting in the bar on the Enterprise with Data, and orders a Scotch. The bartender politely tells him that what they have now is Synthahol. Scotty mutters to himself, "Synthetic alcohol, synthetic commanders, what will thry think of next?"

Synthetic blackjack, indeed!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO grummanyankee: Keep playing in the casino. It is a lot of fun. Sometimes it could be profitable too.

thanks for the new forum laura :D

Yes! Many thanks!

Blame me for the idea and the extra bandwidth this section is using now. LOL! This place is exploding in popularity.

But remember try to keep it clean in here. It is being watched closely. We don't want to ruin it. Just a note out to everyone.

Good Morning CP! Here I am..only one cup of coffee so far and I'm reading and writing about casinos! We are going to try to get a cab to the casino in Victoria, BC when we're in port. Have you been to that one? I think we'll be in port from 7PM-midnight on Aug.13. I sure will be in the ship's casino daily, but can't pass up one in the port if it's within a reasonable cab ride.

G...Yankee,

I went to that casino a couple of months ago. It's larger than your ship's casino bit definately not Vegas, not AC, not even like Biloxi where I live.

They had a couple computer hold 'em tables, a bit of carnival games, and lots (300 or so) of really tight slots.

I recommend you go have a nice dinner downtown, and gamble on the boat.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO grummanyankee: Believe it or not, I have never been to Western Canada. Have fun while you are there. Try a slot and try a table game, but, only if they have live dealers.

One cruise in the afternoons I learned how to play Three-Card-Poker. It was on a line that only opened the Craps tables at night. Had some fun and won some money.

Don't forget to get a Casino chip from the place. The only Casinos I've been to outside of the U.S. has been The Hotel/Casino of Nova Scoitia and The Isle of Capri in Freeport, Bahamas.

What about craps? The floor plan I saw didn't look like it had a craps table.

Wow - old thread!

In general, Princess sips have a craps table. The floor plan is a representation, not an actual diagram of the layout. Which ship will you be cruising on? I've sailed the Coral and the Crown and both of them do. They didn't get really heavy action on my cruises, but they were open nightly.

Shalom, Andy.
