Baja Whale cruise Feb 2019

Has anyone been on this cruise (Among the Great Whales)? Just looking for tips and experiences. This will be our 2nd Nat Geo cruise (First was to Antarctica). We are really looking forward to the trip. Thanks!

My wife and I got back from a Baja whale cruise with Lindblad in February.

·         The purpose of the cruise is gray whales, gray whales, and then more gray whales.

·         You get gray whales, gray whales and more gray whales.  Oh, and some visits to local, undeveloped islands to look at flora            and fauna.

·         On the Zodiacs, or the local Pangas, while out whale watching you might see 5 whales blowing, spy hopping, or breaching              AT THE SAME TIME.  They estimate there might be 250-300 in the areas where you are watching.

·         No promises, but I you might well get a chance to “pet” a whale and perhaps get a whale mite on your finger (Don’t worry,              we do not taste good to whale mites.)

·         The cabins are really, really, tiny, but functional and kept clean.

·         The food is good, basic, although sometimes not hot enough for my tastes.  Lots of fresh local fish.

·         Naturalists and staff are excellent and have a deep and profound knowledge of whales, other local sea life, and the area.

·         The ship and crew are American and it the Stars and Stripes are on the fantail.
