Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for a Hotel in San Juan pre-cruise. Also, when I get off the ship (Dawn on December 16) what's the earliest flight time you would suggest for flying out that day?

thanks for any recommendations

The Decanter Hotel in Old San Juan. We flew in to Old San Juan 9 /13 prior to sailing on 9/16. We had to change travel plans due to Florence. We stayed at the Navona Guest House 9/13-9/15; Sheraton Old San Juan on 9/15; and then the Decanter on 9/23. If we ever find ourselves back in Old San Juan, the Decanter it is.

I would also like to know what is recommended for flight time home and what the process would be if there is customs with long lines. I debark also on the time change day not sure if that will have a bearing. Any thoughts would be appreciated as we are trying to book flights. Thank you

The Sheraton is a great hotel depending on your budget, try bidding on price line even for Isla Verde. Plan to be off the ship on a good day around 9:00AM and take it from their.  Your 15-20 minutes away from the airport on a perfect day.

AC Marriott Condado, great location, very modern, very accommodating.  Great coffee/breakfast place adjacent to the hotel and many shops and restaurants within walking distance.  Largest Walgreens I have ever seen for last minute items (wine, sunscreen etc.)  Can't speak to departure time on Dawn.

We have stayed at the Sheraton OSJ numerous times.  Great location.  We have also stayed at Hotel Milano which is much cheaper than the Sheraton but not as nice.  We shoot for a flight home about 10 to 1030.   It is earlier than the cruise line recommends but we also do the self disembarkation and are always at the airport plenty early.   Plus the crowds are much less and shorter security line first thing in the morning.

We just stayed at the Sheraton last month (again). I certainly would and did eat at the roof top at the Milano Hotel but wouldn't stay there !

We had a very early 9:25am flight (not our choice after many changes with AA) luckily we got escorted off (very first ones) and made it in plenty of time...but agree 10-10:30 is absolutely doable with express departure.
