Weather and Dress in Japan and Korea in June

We are going to be on cruises that start/end in Tokyo and stop at Kobe, Kochi, Shingu and Nagoya in Japan as well as Pusan and Cheju City in Korea.

My understanding is that the weather is going to be humid and warm, but not too hot, with lots of rainy days. Is it correct?

Also, being used to wearing shorts and T-shirts when sightseeing in Carrebean and Mediterranean, I am wondering if we should dress more conservatively in Japan and Korea. Any first-hand experience with that?

Thank you!

I was there only once and it was not "shorts are necessary" weather, but I can't imagine shorts in a Japanese or Korean city full of people going to work. You will stand out unless you are under 20 years old and as slim as Japanese/Korean teenagers. Then you can whip out your best cosplay costume, especially on weekends in certain areas. Bring a photographer as well. ;-)

Seriously, shorts are beach and resort wear for most adults, but young people wear them as long as the entire outfit is fashionable
