All correct which is why they let the casinos open on the ships.

Well yes and no- they don’t just let them but rather charge them a large fee for a license to open in port. The ships that regularly call on Bermuda all purchase it but a lot of ships that only call once or twice a year don’t.

Yes, only the ships that purchase a license can keep them open in port. The ships that call regularly have bought a license.

 

Bermuda has a gaming commission and the plan is to open casinos on the island itself. The projection is for a casino to open at the Hamilton Princess in 2018. SBtS is correct that there could be one in 2018. In Bermuda projected dates are often delayed so it is best to keep expectations low. I do think that there will be a casino or casinos in Bermuda, but until an opening date is announced the answer is none.
