Horizon Itinerary Question

Walk? Not really in either. 7 Mile beach is short cab ride in GC, and in Cozumel we have always either rented a jeep or did a all inclusive, like Mr. Sanchos or Nachi Cocum.

You have lots of time to plan and research. Have fun.

Out of these 2 ports which one has a better all white soft sandy beach to walk on close to the pier/ship? Cozumel or Grand Cayman? We are planning to sail on the Horizon Jan 2019.
Grand Cayman. We took a cab to Calico Jack's on Seven Mile beach. Had a great time in the white sand.

Enjoy your 6 day cruise, but as others have said, what you're seeking is not available in either port. In Cozumel, an all inclusive day at Nachi Cocum or Mr Sanchos is great and in Grand Cayman, check out independent tour operators that go to Stingray City. Check out the ports of call boards on cruise critic for your research and good luck.

If you're looking for softer white sand, check out the 8 day itinerary to Southern Caribbean. Aruba and Curacao beaches are wonderful. Grand Turk has a decent beach right at the cruise port complex.

In Grand Cayman, you can theoretically walk to the lower ends of 7 Mile Beach. But you won't be at a resort with loungers for day guests. You can also take a local bus/jitney to a resort along the beach. Might take a bit longer than a cab but is cheaper.

In Cozumel, there is a "beach" at Puerta Maya. Not white sand, there may be loungers, your vista is the ships docked there and at the International Pier next door. You don't need to buy an AI to enjoy a beach in Coz. Paradise Beach, Corona Beach, San Francisco, are all along the same stretch as Mr Sanchos and Nachi. All are PayGo.. Lots of details on the Cozumel Board.

Grand Cayman has 7 mile beach, a 5 minute van ride for about $5 gets you to a decent beach club with decent white sand and blue water. It's possible to walk to cemete ry beach in GC from the port, but I wouldn't call it "short". In Cozumel, a 15 or 20 minute cab ride gets you to either Mr Sanchos or Nachi Cocum beach clubs, both with decent sand .

Is the sand at either of these comparable to the fine sugar sand you find at HMC or some South Pacific isles? Not really, but they are as nice or better, IMO, than 75% of the other Caribbean beaches I've visited, and I've made many many cruise stops and maybe even more land vacations to than Caribbean in the last 20 years.

As others have said, nothing near the ports, so take a short ride and enjoy yourself.
