Looking for a good hotel to stay in pre-cruise. Myself, DH and our 2 kids 14 and 8.

Would love a place that has a one bedroom and a sleeper couch or something to that effect. 3 beds would be amazing

Travel dates are March 9th & 10th

Looking for very safe area - planning on the 9/11 memorial and Statue of Liberty

Budget - we would like to stay under $350 per night

Flying into LGA

Any thoughts on a good hotel for us? None of us have never been to NYC so know nothing about it.

Thanks in advance,

Kristine

Almost missed your travel dates ...

$350 all inclusive nightly isn't necessary close to what you are asking for, wide range & choice of hotels in midtown & downtown, etc. served by public transportation, as downtown financial districts on weekend - do, sometimes, offer specials - but, a 1 BR ... not too sure.

Have you done any searches using major online "engines" to browse ?? - any corporate/military/law enforcement/AAA discount eligibilities ? Brands like Hampton Inns with comlimentary hot breakfast for 4 can save money, already factored into their quoted rates ... usually can be founded with 2 Queen beds.

Cruising from Manhattan Cruise Terminal ?? What is your travel plan between LGA & hotel with # of checked luggage ?? Car service (mini-van) or taxi-van will likely be needed, unless you wish to do public transportation ... most out-of-town first-time visitors tend to avoid, especially with children in tow.

We always stay at The Travel Inn (515 W 42nd St). It will meet your money requirement.....we have never paid more than $260/night, usually around $175-200. You can get a room with 2 queen beds, but not a separate bedroom. We like it because it is easy to drive to and has a garage attached that used to be free, although they just started charging a fee, but it is still less than other garages. I know you don’t have to worry about parking. It is clean and staff is friendly. It is about a block and a half from Port Authority where you can then take the subway anywhere. Easy walk to Times Square, and close to the pier. It is not right in the middle of the action, but we find the location convenient.

DoubleTree (Hilton) Financial District on Stone St. is another possibility, near William St. & Club Quarters suggested above - a junior 1 BR with king bed, sleeps 4 (probably a sofabed) in the "separate" sitting area, free wired & wireless WiFi. Breakfast not included, non-refundable rate @ $271 + taxes/fees.

Close to 9/11 & SOL, Wall Street around the corners, walk to other downtown tourist spots, subways will take you to Times Square, etc. From LGA on a weekday arrival, best & simple, Dial 7 or Carmel's minivan - should run about $70 to $75 with toll & tips, etc.

If you prefer Times Square or Macy's area, looked like your budget rate caps are ok, but not necessary finding a roomier "suite" or junior suite.

We just stayed at the Comfort Inn Midtown West. We paid $125 including all taxes for a room with one king-sized bed. Free wifi, breakfast was included, and it was a 1.5-block walk to Pier 88 where the Norwegian Gem was docked. It is also walking distance to Times Square. It's on 48th between 10th and 11th. The room was small, but we were only there for one night and just to sleep, so we did not care.
