Victory...horrible reviews

I usually take reviews with a grain of salt, but under "Member Reviews", they are all recent and very consistent with each other...one right after another. :( I am not looking for anyone to "talk" me into the cruise I just booked, but would love to know if anyone has anything good to say about the ship. I have been on the Glory, Splendor and Pride, with Carnival. (many others on other cruise lines). Any positive thoughts?

Reviews of a ship right out of dry dock always attract the “new posters” to CC in order to complain about the fiasco.

Balance the content of these virgin reviewers with those of earlier cruises and you’ll get a better picture of what to expect of a ship if this age, size, demographic and amenity.

I've noticed some not so good reviews also noting construction and some public area venues being closed since the Victory came out of dry dock. I'm also surprised by this as one would think a cruise line would have this type of construction completed before boarding fare paying passengers. We have not been on the Victory since the ship came out of dry dock. I can tell you that we had sailed on the Victory this past November and enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed it. The only comment I could make was that the lines for the Lido buffet were often longer than what we've experienced on other Carnival ships. Due to that, we opted for breakfast in the MDR and it turns out we enjoy that more now anyway. We're soon due to sail on the Victory again this month and again toward the end of April. Hopefully the "dust" will have "settled" from the recent dry dock and apparent follow up work. We really enjoyed our Victory cruise last November and expect to do so again this month and beyond. Hopefully you will enjoy your cruise too!

Will be following as I'm also curious to hear from others who have sailed on the Victory since the ship came out of dry dock.

I sailed the Victory three times before dry dock and never found anything to complain about. I think the layout is fine. The food average for the cost of the cruise. The staff is always friendly and work very hard every day. The casino it tight, but I know that going. In. In all my carnival sailings I have never had any real issues that would ruin a cruise. I think you will enjoy if you ignore all the negativity. A cruise is what YOU make of it.

Thank you all very much. Hopefully all of those reviews are just temporary and the Victory will make a turn-a-round. Have never had a bad cruise in all of my years of cruising. Just a tad scary to read the same complaints over and over again. Thank you again!

My boyfriend and I were on the Victory for the sailing before dry dock and we had a BLAST! No complains whatsoever

It was his first cruise, my 6th, I had previously sailed with Disney and Royal Caribbean so I didn’t know what to expect. Loved it so much we are booked on the Glory in June

I wouldn’t hesitate to sail on the Victory again

We were on the Victory in October. Not much negative to say, but then I'm easy to please (as long as there's plenty of rum I'm good!).

The Alchemy Bar staff were amazing and service was great all over the ship. Like others have said, the Lido buffet is crowded. Someone should figure out a new layout for that area.

Would we sail on Victory again? Heck yes.

Op, I think you got your answer, sometimes here the negative stuff comes from people who were not even on the ship. Go on your cruise, enjoy and let us know your thoughts when you come back.

Agree with Jimbo..... This site has always leaned towards the complainers, when it comes to pro's and con's of cruises. I've cruised Victory twice....about 10 years ago and we enjoyed our cruise(s) on her.... I can't think of a bad cruise I've ever had... Cruised on Carnival 12x. Sure some were better than others but even my least rated cruise was more than satisfactory. Take feedback you read accordingly. Make you own judgement once you've cruised the ship. Enjoy your cruise!!

I wouldn't read to much into the bad reviews. I just read a few, and most seemed to be complaining about things people should know if they did any research ( like complaining about the MDR not being open for lunch or because the kind of bed they assumed would be in their room). A lot of people seemed to assume that the ship would be in tip top shape right after dry dock. Complaints about not embarking on time and construction still going on are just laughable. If you book the first cruise after dry dock, that's what you get.

I've never been on Victory, but I am booked for October for a chartered cruise. I will looked for reviews in February now that the construction and updates should be nearly finished.

I’m so glad someone posted about the reviews. We are first time cruisers that were leaning toward victory or enchantment of the seas. We really want to visit Key West and I thought victory would be great just being out of dry dock. I’m glad to see people that sailed on it before would again. Have a great time on your cruise.

It's been some years since we sailed on Victory, but she was our first ship and we sailed her an additional 3 times. We haven't been aboard since 2.0 was added. The buffet lines are a drawback since she has fewer lines than Conquest-class and newer ships but I would think that the addition of Blue Iguana and Guy's Burgers (along with Seafood Shack if you want to spend a little extra) would help.

Do watch out for the sea horses on the stairwells. They bite.;)

Having sailed both, And booked again on the Victory, I think the experience was pretty similar on both ships. The differences being the things that generally differentiate RC from Carnival. I would gladly sail both regularly. I think the Victory hits the sweet spot of size VS number of pax.

I've sailed Victory twice (Aug 2016 and Nov 2017) and loved the ship, no complaints whatsoever. There was some yellow caution/construction tape around a small area of the main lido pool deck that they were repairing, but that didn't phase me one bit. And it did not cause the pool or hot tubs to be closed at anytime. Had a great time on both cruises! I especially love the decor on Victory!!

Victory was the first ship I sailed on and am booked to revisit this ship in a few days. I'm on the Feb 16 sailing later this week. I will be writing a review afterwords but it may take a couple weeks as I'm also sailing Navigator of the seas on the 20th. I am more excited to see Victory again than NOS if truth be told.

We sailed victory many years ago from San Juan and had a blast. That cruise stopped every day at a different port and that made up for any shortcomings the ship might have had. No matter what I have heard about ships, I have not let it affect my trip. I have sailed triumph many times and know that there are lots of bad things said about that one.

We sailed Victory in 2011 and again in August 2017. She has some spots that needed some paint but that in no way affected the amount of fun we had - which was LOTS and LOTS! Great staff and wonderful experience! Kat at the Serenity Deck Bar and Reynold Senn in the Piano Bar were AMAZING!

We were on Victory the week it came out of dry dock, it was terrible, missing railings, crime scene taping off doorways and decks that could not be used, very dirty, stained and dried food on pool chairs and cushions in adult areas, our cabin was next to one they were still renovating so we were not able to use it during the day and each night prior to us being able to use it they had to run an ozone generator to remove the acetone smell coming from the cabin next door. No hot water in our shower for most of the cruise but our toilet did have hot water, guess something was hooked up incorrectly. We cruise for 4 weeks every year, this is by far the worst experience we have had cruising. We were offered an OBC and did receive a phone call when we got home offering us 15% off another cruise, I think we will try another cruise line next time. Hoping they got these issues sorted out so you have a wonderful time.
