tonypk Posted February 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Hi, we're cruising from Fremantle on Celebrity Solstice March 5th calling into Adelaide & then Melbourne & off t NZ & returning to Sydney. We have heard conflicting reports about the rough weather around the "bight " so was wondering if anyone has any comments on what to expect.? Rare MicCanberra Posted February 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Welcome to cruise critic. :) Weather along the bite can be a bit rough and the same goes for Bass strait and the Tasman sea to NZ and back. However, it can also be nice and smooth, the weather is what it is. The Solstice is a great ship and handles the heavy seas well, if you are worried about it take some precautions like medications or sea bands, etc.
GUT2407 Posted February 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2018 It can get rough, but it can also be smooth. The captains (navigators) tend to be good at following the smoothest possible route
Pushka Posted February 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2018 It will depend totally on whether there is a weather front moving across the bight. Could be extremely calm or stormy and you won’t know until a day or so prior. March does tend to be our most stable month down south. The same can be said crossing the ditch to NZ.
