We booked Air Canada DTW (Detroit) to YQB (Quebec) on October 5th, 2018 (Friday) with a connection in Toronto.

Air Canada 73620DTW (6:45am) >>YYZ (7:57am) -- terminal #1

Air Canada 1792 YYZ (12:50pm) >> YQB(2:20pm)

Will our bags be checked all the way to Quebec by Air Canada?

I understand the procedures have changed within the last 12 to 15 months were checked bags do not have to be claimed and then re-checked. Is this correct?

This is my general understanding of what to expect at the airport:

After landing at Toronto – (probably gates F88 to F92)

Exit plane with passport and Customs Declarations form in hand.

After a short walk take the escalator down to Customs area.

At kiosk insert passport. Also, obtain a copy of your Declaration.

Proceed to the Customs line for processing.

Present passport and Declaration (copy) to agent for approval.

Exit area to the outside.

Take tram (approx. 5 minutes ride) to domestic gates.

Take escalator up to gates.

Do you have the option of taking an elevator?

Additional security check points are not required through this process??

Am I missing anything?

John

This is the description on the Air Canada site.

When I have done (now a few months ago), no kiosk needed. There are elevators everywhere. Also of note, checked bags are automatically transferred.
