Just Got off the Dream 9/24

We just did the 3 day Halloween on the High Seas Cruise. Short and sweet. It was a great cruise and very fun for our child. I do have a couple of logistics issues to address with DCL but not complaints. 1. Please have the Halloween party and trick or treating on deck 3. Its so hot outside at 4:30pm people in costumes are roasting on the pool deck. Maybe utilize the D Lounge for the party or the main theater? Or better yet have the Halloween party at 10 pm on Saturday night and move Pirate night to Sunday. Dont schedule both for the same night.

Over all the food was good. Animators Palate is still the weak link of the 3 with terrible food choices and quality. We took a suggestion on this board to go to Cabanas that night and it was much better. 3rd night we did Palo and it was amazing as usual. The staff was very good and friendly and entertainment was the usual Disney shows. Ship and staterooms were clean as expected. There were the typical obnoxious few drunks on the ship but they were easily avoided. We had a great time but will probably not return on Halloween Cruises in the future unless they make some changes as I mentioned. above.

We looked at the menu and it was almost the same as 2 years ago. It did not offer many choices so we decided on Cabanas. Since we did not eat at AP that night but our friends did, we can only go by their comment that the food was barely warm and not very good. That was our experience two years ago as well.

Having never done a DCL cruise I did not know alcohol was even served on their ships  I do and understand WHY there are no casinos ( just bingo, I think but even there I might have the wrong info) the reason, why no casinos, or so I was told, was Disney didn't want the hassle;p. nothing too do with showing the little kiddies the big EVILS of gambling, but drunks ? I guess that's a big part of most kid's life today:confused: Just an observation of a non DCL cruiser. My stepson and his wife and three kids went on one from Kona to either San Diego or SF, and had a GREAT time but since neither drink they didn't mention alcohol.

Just a comment, they won't move Pirate night (or any special event) to the last night of the cruise. Pirate night activities go long past when people need to have their bags packed and outside the door to be removed from the ship.

Alcohol is absolutely served. There are pool bars, family bars, and adult only bars and nightclubs. This being said, I've never seen anyone drunk on a Disney Cruise. Not to say it doesn't happen, but I've just never seen it. It's not really the cruise line to sail if you're into partying into the wee hours every night.

That’s too bad, such a fun restaurant to dine in!

Not only is alcohol served and as mentioned there are many bars, they also have different alcohol tastings.  Whiskey, wine, mojitio and tequila tastings.  And they always sell out!!

No casinos and that is the reason a lot of aduts and couples cruise Disney. There are a lot of us who are not interested in casinos. But that’s why ice cream comes in many flavors.

If you do not like a menu, you can always order anything from any other rotational dining room (from appetizer to dessert).  I do agree that the AP menu is not great, but you are not actually stuck with the AP menu.  Just ask your server.

Only if all the dining rooms are serving the rotational menus.  On those nights that the same menu is served in all dining rooms, there's no "ordering from different menu" option.  Like Pirate night, or Prince & Princess night, or Captain's Gala, or Till We Meet again.....

When we did our Fantasy cruise a couple of years ago, they did have the Halloween party and trick or treating on deck 3.  We thought it was WAY too crowded for the space available.  And since it was so crowded, it got super hot.  I ended up going up to deck 4 and watching from above.
