Taxi from Cai Lan Port - Halong Bay

We have a private junk booked in 4 days leaving from Hai Gai International Pier. We tender at Cai Lan Port.

Are there taxi’s readily available? Does anyone know the approximate cost? Will they take credit cards? USD?

Also - we were told we may be charged a $15 pp fee to leave the port area, is this still happening?

Thanks so much for your help - I have found this Asia thread invaluable

I am not sure if this info is applicable to you, as it sounds as though we may have tendered to the other side from you. Not sure.

2 months ago we tendered to Hong Gai side (the RHS as you're looking towards the bridge)

On our 2nd day there we had a van organised to take us to Tuan Chau ferry terminal to catch a junk.

This took close to 30 mins as we had first to cross the bridge to the Bai Chay side.

On the Hong Gai side there were no restrictions walking to and from the pier.

We didn't take a taxi there, only in Saigon & Nha Trang, but I would certainly plan on paying in cash there.
