Finally starting to feel better but now Bill is a bit "off key". Ah well - this too shall pass. Our bike plans have been cancelled for the w/e due to "wintry mix" weather forecasts. While I will miss the events,, I am looking forward to the first "down time" since we returned home. Work has been a madhouse and I think that now that I am in my "jammies" I will stay in them until Sunday morning when it is time to get ready for church! Ya'lll have a blessed weekend!

The weather is probably doing you a favor by making you take it easy and inside where you can be toasty and warm. We're doing lots of napping and relaxing. You do the same.

Good Morning Friends this time last week we were camped out in Ft.Lauderdale airport .
Jane how is Morgan doing , I loved your review and the Tea pictures I must say I did prefer Tea when it was in one of the Lounges .
We have a 15 % off another cruise up to 8 day sailing and I am looking at the moment Dream 8 day Feb 2015 is looking good as it goes to St Marten and Tortola but it is so expensive at the moment .
Have a great weekend .

Hi Tonie and Everyone.

Morgan is doing well. His voice is stronger every day. He has had no pain whatsoever. We didn't even get the RX for pain meds filled. I just ripped it up yesterday since it was for Oxycodin. He has taken a Tylenol each night at bedtime and that's it.

Glad you enjoyed the review. I enjoyed writing it. That was my stress relief the night before the surgery and the two days that followed.

I can't believe how tired I have been. I've taken naps, gone to bed early each night and slept well. I am usually a night owl, bed after 12:30 most nights, up by 7:00. Last night I went to bed at 10:15 and still took 2 naps today. LOL. You never know how much you have pushed your body until you slow down. I've welcomed this recovery period.

Hope all of you have a good Sunday and a blessed Palm Sunday if you celebrate it. I'll try to hop on Skype tomorrow night. See you then.

Just wanted to jump on here to again thank everyone for making our group feel so welcome! Loved the Cabin Poker Crawl! We also learned about Sunny Liston tour on the Roll Call. I am glad I bought his CD as that music helps on gloomy cold days.
We are looking at New England/Canada cruise Sept. 2014. But, who knows? We also love that the Miracle will be on our coast.
Hope all of you continue to enjoy cruising.

Glad you had a good time. Our next "official" reunion cruise will likely be 2015, so keep checking back here as we haven't finalized anything yet. Of course, there are always Maniacs cruising somewhere, so no doubt we'll see you again.

We were on the right week for sure. Our friend, Ric, who switched groups (remember him ?) has posted that the lines are ridiculous on the Breeze.

Of course, I felt compelled to post it must be a matter of timing because we had NO lines except for the Mongolian Wok. I really didn't stand in line for anything. Guys was always walk right up, so was guest services.

My, my, he jumped ship to this week and look what he found.

I think the longest line I had was for Fat Jimmy's C-side BBQ on the last sea day and it was probably around 10 minutes. Both times I went to Guy's burgers, there was no wait.

We are finally over our colds. Gary isn't coughing any longer, nor am I. Wow...lasted a long time. Happy to hear everyone else is also starting to feel better. Brr...cold here in Florida. Hopefully, the last of the cold weather for the season. Freeze warning again tonight...ugh! Our last set of company just left so a few more days until the next batch comes in. Hopefully, the weather will be better for them.

Stay well everyone. Hope you enjoy the holidays!

The new Quantum of the Seas is very interesting....but....is it TOO big? Some of the things just don't interest me (sky diving, etc.), but the inside cabins with a "virtual" balcony....hmmm. Would the Maniacs get lost on a ship that big? I am torn because the Breeze seemed bigger than I liked, but there's this nagging feeling like I should try something like the Quantum.

Maybe one of the longer cruises out of New York in 2015??? I know I'm kind of pushing for a West Coast cruise, but maybe I'd be willing to do this if we had enough Maniacs going....

We'd be in for a cruise on the Quantum. Royal is not my favorite ship line but you do have to admit they have some innovative additions.

The Quantum is not as big as the Oasis or Allure but the cabins will be a bit bigger. It is 13, 000 gross tons bigger than their Freedom class ships which are 154,410 gross tons making it approximately 167,000 + gross tons holding 4,180 passengers. In comparison the Carnival Breeze is 130, 052 gross tons and carries 3,690 passengers so the Quantum will be somewhat bigger than the Breeze.

Quantum-class ships will have 16 passenger-accessible decks, 8 of which will feature balcony staterooms overlooking the ocean. Like the CelebritySolstice class, those staterooms above the life boats will be recessed into the superstructure and won't look down directly at the ocean.

There will be a total of 2,090 staterooms: 1,570 balcony staterooms, 147 ocean-view staterooms, and 373 inside staterooms. Of those staterooms, 34 will be wheelchair accessible and 28 will be studio staterooms for single travellers (including 12 studio staterooms with balconies).

All aft-facing staterooms will be a 2-story "loft" suites. Expanding on the "Virtual Porthole" concept introduced by Disney Cruise Line on the Disney Dream, all the interior staterooms will feature a floor-to-ceiling 80-inch high-definition TV screen showing live views from the outside of the ship, which Royal Caribbean calls the a "Virtual Balcony". On average, staterooms on the Quantum class will be 9 percent larger than those on the preceding Oasis class.

The ships will also feature a number of multi-purpose venues:
  • "Two70°", a lounge on decks 5-7 at the stern of the ship, to feature a panoramic ocean view, a café, and an ice bar. At night, Two70° will be used as a performance venue for a nouveau-cirque-style show and as a disco.
  • The "SeaPlex", located at the middle of deck 15, will be a large indoor venue with a full-size basketball court that can be converted into a a flying trapeze school, a roller-skating arena, or a bumper cars ride. The "SeaPlex" also featuresa "food truck" casual dining venue and table tennis, air hockey and foosball tables.
  • The "Music Hall" will be a 2-story lounge on decks 3 and 4 that also serves as a nightclub and small music performance venue, and feature the self-levelling pool tables first seen on the Radiance-class ships.
Like the earlier Freedom and Oasis-class ships, the "Sports Court" on deck 15 aft will feature a Wave Loch Flowrider surf simulator and a rock-climbing wall. A new feature on the Quantum-class is "RipCord by iFLY", a skydiving simulator set in a recirculating indoor recreational vertical wind tunnel. All the features of the Sports deck are complimentary, although Royal Caribbean will charge for pictures and videos taken of RipCord participants.

The "NorthStar" observation tower, located at the forward end of the top deck, will use a glass-walled capsule on the end of a long mechanical arm to lift small groups of guests up and over the edge of the ship, reaching heights of up to 300 feet above sea level. The NorthStar will be complimentary, except for sunrise, sunset, and private trips.

Deck 14 will feature an outdoor pool with a large video screen, an indoor pool with a retractable roof, an indoor "Solarium" with an adults-only pool, the "H2O Zone" kids' water park, and at least 4 whirlpools. Other included features that have become standard on recent Royal Caribbean ships include a Spa and Fitness Center on decks 15 and 16, the "Adventure Ocean" kids club on decks 11 and 12, a Broadway-style "The Royal Theater" on decks 3-5, and a Casino on deck 3. Unlike the earlier Voyager, Freedom, and Oasis class, Quantum-class ships will not feature an ice skating rink or a Royal Promenade mall down the center of the ship.

Thanks, Lynn. I was thinking it would be the same size as the Oasis or Allure. And a studio balcony for single cruisers sounds very interesting!

Looks like Quantum will be doing some 12 day cruises from New York:

"The twelve night cruise will offer a Southern Caribbean itinerary with stops in Royal Caribbean's private island of Labadee, followed by San Juan, Philipsburg, Basseterre, Fort de France and Bridgetown."

Martinique and Barbardos are 2 new ports and I love the longer cruise. On a shorter one, I don't think I'd get a chance to experience everything they have to offer. Now, I'm definitely looking at this.

Other Maniacs - what do you think? Should we (pardon the pun) jump ship from Carnival to RCCL?

The weather here has been crazy, too. One day sunny and warm, the next rain and hail! Today it's cloudy and drizzly.

Plus, the first cruise ship of the season stopped in Victoria yesterday. Personally, I wouldn't do an Alaska cruise quite this early, but I'll bet they got a great price on the cruise.

Sandy,

My only concern at this time is pricing....RCCL is always higher than Carnival and sometimes much higher for the same ports and cabin categories.

Pricing should be out soon and think we should check it out before we plan. Other than that it souonds good to me!

I figured the pricing would be higher than Carnival and it's still a long way away, so I was more just trying to see who might be interested. Like I said, though, I'm interested and if we don't do it as a reunion, I may just try it out for myself.

I am just happy to cruise with the Maniacs wherever we go!
