MikeyB Posted October 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2017 Hi there, I know that everyones costs go up from year to year, so price increases from one year to the next is expected, but is anyone surprised by the Viking Riverboat increases for 2018? It seems that the cheapest fare has increased some $350 to $400 pp from 2017 to 2018. Cost increases of between 10 and 15%. Doesn't that seem like a lot? I know about the new longboats coming in 2019, but they shouldn't try to recoup all of its costs in one year!
Rare patrickmoran Posted October 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Business is good so they can raise prices. The ships are sailing full and the "sales" have not been attractive. We haven't booked anything for this year or next because prices have really jumped.

If they have a promo for air $495 or some such figure, the prices usually increase accordingly. Nothing in this world is free or included at "no charge" - just marketing strategy. MikeyB Posted October 17, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 17, 2017 Gee, Since Viking reads these boards, I was hoping they would comment.
Mark_T Posted October 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2017 Gee, Since Viking reads these boards, I was hoping they would comment. Highly unlikely that you'll get a comment about pricing policy, the Viking presence here is good on service recovery though.
