MSC Cruise Offer from MoSun

Checking the mail after our fabulous Grazie Princess cruise, I was very surprised to find an offer from Mohegan Sun to pick up a comped cruise on MSC. I have sailed most of the mainstream cruise lines, but I know next to nothing about MSC. Since I plan to pick up the certificate, I better get busy learning what I can ;p

Anyone else receive this offer, or have any advice or comments?

I received this offer too. It is nice that it is actually free (port charges and tax incl). And upgrades seam reasonable. We have a year to use it, might try next Jan or Feb.

Yes, I am very pleased it includes port fees & taxes. I have already done the status match and will have some nice perks from that to go along with the free drinks in the casino from this offer.

I am also impressed wth the way they spelled out all the upgrades. I'll keep on reading the forum, reviews and the website to educate myself about all the MSC differences, though, as there seem to be many.

We are looking at Feb or March and might actually try the Med for the first time. I'm glad we have until October to make a decision :)

My husband and I are from Connecticut and we received the voucher from Mohegan Sun for a free cruise on MSC. We have never sailed on the MCS line. We are booked on the new ship Seaside. We are booked for March 3, 2018. Can’t wait to see the new ship.

I also ended up booking the Seaside, but for 3/17. There is a ton of information coming in about the ship, but not much about the casino. Hopefully, we will know more by March!

We sailed on MSC Meraviglia this past fall on the Mediterranean. If you can, see if Yacht Club cabins are available. I have been on 36 cruises with Carnival & Princess. MSC impressed the hell out of us.

I have heard negative opinions about MSC. Please elaborate on what impressed you. I know they honor memberships from casinos and I could be considered in the top tier which grants you special treatment.

Well, we were in Yacht Club, the ship-within-a-ship. An interior in YC cost what a regular balcony went for. But all amenities including butler, private pool and dining areas and all liquor were included. The food was very good—the service top-notch. I can’t really speak to the non-YC experience. But the Cirque shows and production shows were fine. A small but smoky casino. If you like to dance and party, the interior promenade was rocking every night.

We got the same promotion from Mohegan Sun.  Is it actually a free cruise with MSC?  Any hidden charges?

There are no hidden charges with MSC.  My offer was for an inside, so I paid $359 total to upgrade to an outside stateroom, which of course was optional.  That was the only charge, although they did request a deposit of (I think) $200 per person which was returned to us in the form of onboard credit.  As stated above you will be required to pay the daily service charge but that is the case on every cruise.  And of course, there are plenty of places on board to spend money if you choose to!

The offer included complimentary drinks in the casino, which many of the cruiselines no longer offer.  I really enjoyed the cruise, and I am an experienced cruiser.

If you upgrade your cabin category then you will have to pay the full amount due when you reserve (I upgraded to Yacht Club). And since you are not paying a deposit but paying in full instead you do not get the onboard credit.
