Pacific Coastal bus route

Recommended Posts

Hello, my friend and I wish to see the forests and mountains near Vancouver on a day trip. Renting a car is out of the question. Organized tours are few to choose from after October 1. Noticed the Pacific Coast bus has a trip from downtown Vancouver to Whistler Village? at 10:40AM arriving 1PM with a return to Vancouver at 3:30PM thinking we could grab a quick lunch. This is $55 each including return. Would this be a good trip for scenery?

Yes it would be a good trip for scenery - the link below will take you on a trip up the Sea to Sky highway and through to Whistler - it appears to be either early in the year or later in the year as it does have some snow in the Whistler area.

Hope this helps - you might want to do a google or you tube search for Sea to Sky Highway videos.

Cheers!

Dennis

Sea to Sky is a gorgeous drive - but NB: that the trip you're looking at is not a sightseeing bus, with stops to take in the views. It's an express shuttle designed to get folks up and down to Whistler from Vancouver (for skiing. hiking etc). That drive time does not leave any spare time for stops en route, with the drop at Squamish almost certainly the only time the bus won't be moving - it's nothing like their 'day trip to Whistler' offered until September.

So be sure to sit on the left going up, the right coming back (water side, West), as the road is cut into the side of the mountains with nothing but rock walls on the inland (East) side in many portions.

2 1/2 hrs in Whistler isn’t enough time . To appreciate the mountains and forest you need to get up high on the Whistler gondola . Squamish is only half the distance and has its’ own gondola with a shuttle service. Google sea to sky gondola. of course the views are highly weather dependant.

Great info, we do understand this bus is a commuter run, no stops for scenery. Just wanted another option for saying we visited Whistler. Mobility issues so dont want walking or hiking tour.
