scooter rental at Fort Lauderdale?

Does anyone know the name of the site that I can rent a scooter for a cruise? We are flying in and renting one would be so much easier.

I don't know the answer but is this for mobility onboard or for transportation?

Saw a thread years ago saying Walgreen's has them if your talking about for onboard.

http://www.scootaround.com - you can rent wheelchairs or scooters and they will deliver to your cabin. We have just ordered for my cousin's husband due to a hip replacement that means he can't walk long distances yet.

And they must be kept in your room when not in use. No leaving them in the hallways.

Actually, that's not true. The rental company can tell you the width of the scooter and Princess can tell you the width of your specific cabin door. They definitely can fit thru a standard cabin door depending of the width of each. It's very important to check both measurements out ahead of time!

I had a scooter in my balcony cabin on the Crown Princess in August and it worked out just fine. Although it is required that you inform Princess ahead of time and you must store it in your cabin when not in use. That does take up a bit of space but you can work it out. It's definitely easier if you have a handicap accessible cabin, but that is not always possible and doesn't mean you can't make this work.

I would also call Princess and see if they have a company that they work with.

I've used specialneedsatsea.com for my last two cruises - one out of Ft. Lauderdale, and one out of Los Angeles. I've been very pleased with their prices and service - the scooter was waiting for me in the cabin (we had a handicapped accessible cabin both times). If you need help to board the ship, wheelchair assistance is available to get you to your cabin. There's another company that is authorized by Princess for scooter rentals, but the name escapes me - but I do highly recommend Special Needs at Sea.

Specialneedsatsea was less expensive when I booked mine last week.
