Is there a Differance in Glacier Bay National Park and Just Glacier Bay?

No, cruises have the same itinerary sailing Glacier Bay. For more info about the entire National Park check out https://www.nps.gov/glba/index.htm including the cruising section: https://www.nps.gov/glba/planyourvisit/cruise.htm.

We just visited it for the third time on our early July Alaska cruise. It was fantastic and beautiful as always.

They both will go to the same area.

The cruise lines are using the terms wrong. If you look at a map of Glacier Bay National Park in the Glacier Bay National Park WEB site, you will clearly see that there is a lot more to Glacier Bay National Park than just Glacier Bay, Some parts of the Park that are away from Glacier are even accessible to visitors although with difficulty.

I realize this but for the OP's question - there is no difference.

You are correct----

A lot of cruise guests get confused over the distinction between Glacier Bay and Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. All of the Fairweather Range is in the Park but not in the Bay itself as well as a huge chunk of the North Pacific coast line. One time we were on a cruise when some of us were mentioning that we would be passing the mouth of the Bay in about an hour. Another guest overheard us and shouted "We have been in the Bay most of the day, don't you listen to the naturalist?"

Glacier Bay Park and Preserve encompasses about 3.3 million acres, while the total area of all glaciers in the park account for only 27% of the area.

We just sailed on NB Vancouver to Whittier on Star 8/3-11. On Princess cruises, the Glacier Bay National Park Rangers board the ship and set up a “National Park satellite office” on the ship while in Glacier Bay. The rangers also provide educational commentary while cruising through the Bay. Because the rangers are on board, you can get your GBNP passport stamp while on the ship. Because I’m a complete National Park stamp-collecting geek, this mattered to me. 👍
