For our 40th we are doing 2 weeks in Europe . For our 35th we did a back to back in the Caribbean. Pick a different itenary then you'd normally do and take a longer trip if possible. In January that might be Australia. ...

We prefer to go longer then upgrade our stateroom. 7 days is just too short for us. YMMV.

A special cruise often needs to be booked 18 months or more in advance. Panama Canal, Australia, Baltic all sell out quickly and never go down in price. We are doing a circumnavigation of Australia in 2020 and it has doubled in price since we booked it. Alaska is terrific and if you can lock down a motor home for post cruise by Dec. 31, that makes a great extended vacation. Just be sure to check out the rental company with BBB.
